Beaches:A trip to Antalya would not be complete without visiting one of the beautiful Mediterranean beaches. Just east of the breathtaking Lower Dden Waterfalls, Lara beach provides a place to relax as well as enjoy the beautiful sun and surf.
In fact, you'll find a long sidewalk spanning for miles, made from red bricks in Kararalioglu Park's Lara Halk Plajı. It is considered one of the longest beaches parallel to the Mediterranean. If walking isn't your thing, then just get a tan down at the Lara Strand. It's just east of the Club Hotel Sera.
Located west of downtown, Konyaalti beach provides additional options for beach goers. With both white rock and imported sand, the Konyaalti Plajlari stretches for miles on the western side of the Antalya bay. Walking along the Konyaalti beach provides magnificent views of both the Mediterranean ocean as well as the Toros Mountains. Consider renting a bicycle to ride along the beach, or taking a long walk between the resorts located on the beach.
If you happen to go in June, you can enjoy the IASSF event. This is short for the International Antalya Sand Sculpture Festival that's been held annually since 2006. Famous sculptors from around the world visit this area just to show-off their masterpieces. Definitely a once in a lifetime chance to see them close-up and personal.
Where to Stay:With an eye for tourists, Antalya has many options for almost any traveler and any budget. Choices range from ultra inclusive five star hotels located on one of the beaches to city center bed and breakfasts. With choices ranging from the city center, Kemer, Lara, Belek Side and Alanya, there are hotels near almost every activity imaginable. When choosing a hotel, consider what is nearby. Antalyas resorts and hotels provide both web searching, as well as live agents to help book a memorable vacation trip
What You're Missing:While everything we discussed is magnificent, there is so much more you're missing. Just understanding that Antalya has a long history of Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk, and Ottoman times will help you enjoy the surroundings. When you first get here, be sure to just take a look around. Soon you will notice hints of different cultures in the designs of the area.
Then of course if you enjoy the water we recommend visiting the Antalya harbor. If you thought the afternoon views were pure and appealing, just wait until the evening rolls around. Everything is different, yet still beautiful, which gives you 2 ways to remember Antalya. You'll also be able to enjoy the evening cruises, the cafes, shops, and anything else your heart desires during your stay. There is so much to do you may not be able to see it all in one trip.
Weather and Climate:Antalya is protected from northern winds by the Toros Mountain range, and boasts about 300 sunny days every year. Summer temperatures may range as high as 100 degrees, but northeasterly winds as well as the sea breeze helps moderate the feeling of the temperature.
