Building An Authoritative Travel Blog

Authoritative blogs seem all the rage at the moment but what exactly is an " Authoritative Travel Blog ?" Well my understanding of the matter is it is a blog that is not only very informative to the readers but that the information comes from authoritative type people in connection with what they are writing about.

Hopefully my articles below will give an insight on travel and travel related experiences from all over the world from many authoritative writers as they have been there and done that.

Articles will be and are published often and this means current travel experiences and up to date places to visit. If you have also visited these places or wish to comment then please do so remembering this blog is intended to family orientated visitors so please be respectful.

I have seen many fears raised through my article site and feel that any traveller today that, for one reason or another, decides against travel insurance then they are possibly being a little short sighted. We do not want our boats to sink but are happy to carry life rafts. travel insurance is a similar idea. We do not wish to ever claim on it but if things go wrong as they sometimes do it is a benifit to have the insurance.

Pontoon Boats: Not Just For Fun!

By Chris Newman

I have seen people use pontoon boats for playtime and recreation, but now they are putting this floating pleasure palace to a more surprising use, would you ever think you can use a pontoon boat for hauling and pulling things? Oceanographers can use a pontoon boat in lieu of a larger watercraft so that they can get farther out into the oceans coral reefs, allowing them to take phenomenal photographs. Scientists can use smaller pontoon boats for various purposes as well, such as collecting data and studying animals for research. Some smaller fishing companies use a pontoon boat for their fishing crews, allowing them to take several employees out at the same time while saving money on the high costs of fuel and manpower it requires to operate a larger boat.

Scientists have tried to get close to whale pods to study their daily ocean habits, but with large vessels it is almost impossible. By using the inflated pontoons they can get very close to the pods by anchoring the pontoon and quietly studying them. Using the inflatable pontoon allows the scientist to draw closer to a colony of seals or sea lions where a larger boat would be viewed as a threat to these animals. By gently trolling a smaller pontoon boat the sea lions and seals are not as stressed out or feel threatened with the noise and commotion. As an invaluable tool, the inflatable pontoon can be used to meet the researchers needs.

While studying the water life, scientists will dart dolphins with a tag for monitoring and tracking to gather other data. In order to do this successfully a small craft like the inflatable pontoon boat is preferred. It is not uncommon for the dolphins to swim right next to the pontoon boat making darting and tagging so much easier. There are many animals that are less threatened by a smaller pontoon and dolphins are just one of them.

Scientists often like to go to a secluded island to study marine life, but have difficulty docking the large sea vessels safely. With the rocky underwater bottom, the rudders and motor can be torn apart when getting to close. Using an inflatable pontoon boat solves this problem. Accessing the inflatable pontoon takes about ten minutes to inflate and assemble, talk about convenient. With the pontoon assembled anyone who wants to proceed to the island and gather the information needed now has the opportunity. Making it so scientist can gather all the information they need and then troll back to the larger vessel without the hassle of destroying equipment. Once again another great example of the smaller pontoon in use and helps scientist gather information where they couldn't before with out a hassle.

Ocean photographers the world over often use the pontoon boats to go into rough waters, because they are lighter and easier to manage. In addition to ocean photography, a pontoon can also be used in the rain forest to troll through the dense forest to travel from point to point. It is because of the extreme versatility, rugged design and durability, that pontoons are now utilized for many reasons other than pleasure.

Snorkeling in Kauai

By Ted Felber

If you want to go snorkeling in Hawaii, you should try the Island of Kauai. This is the best island to snorkel in Hawaii. There is the most diverse underwater population of fish in the world to be found here. The Na Pali coast is where you will find them. You can only access this area by way of water as there is no land route that will access this reef. If you are lucky, you may even get to snorkel with some marine mammals as well as viewing the coral reefs and fish.

If you are new to snorkeling, you will be well protected in this area. If you can swim with confidence, you will have no problem learning to snorkel as this is the only skill you will need. If you do not feel comfortable, you can wear a flotation device that will ensure your safety. Even if you are not fit or if you could stand to lose a few pounds, you can still snorkel safely. If you have preexisting medical conditions, it is always best to consult a physician before taking on any new physical activity. By keeping in mind your limitations, you will have a great time snorkeling.

There are a few items you will need to begin snorkeling; these are bathing suit, snorkel, mask and fins. Since the temperature of the water is warm, you will not need a wet or dry suit to snorkel. Good fitting gear is a must when snorkeling. You will also need to apply a waterproof sun block so that you do not get sun burnt. You may also want to wear a tee shirt while snorkeling for added protection.

You will need to follow the rules of snorkeling while you are in the water. These rules are as follows: make sure you know where the tides and ocean circumstances are before you jump in; never get in the water alone, you should always practice the buddy system when in the water; if you have never snorkeled before, make sure you go with an experienced person; keep an eye on your location so you do not drift too far out to sea.

The best type of water to view marine life is clear and calm. If the water is choppy and turbulent, avoid snorkeling in that area. It will be challenging for even the most experienced swimmer to stay put in one area under those conditions. If you have to spend all your time trying to keep from drifting or traveling with the currents, you won't be able to enjoy the vibrant beauty below. Often the water is the calmest in the morning during low tide.

If you want to view the most brilliant areas when snorkeling, you should always pick spots by the reefs. There will not be the same display of color when you are in a beach setting. If you go to areas that have natural shields, you will have the water type that is best for snorkeling. Be careful of the sharp edges of the reef that can cause serious cuts. Enter into caves with caution.

If you are in doubt about anything--water conditions, location, your equipment, etc.--then don't go out. Check with an experienced guide for help. They can make sure your equipment is in tip-top shape and point you to the best locations. They can even give you tips to maximize your experience. There is so much to see and learn when snorkeling in the waters of Kauai. Relax and enjoy every moment!

South Pacific Islands

By Jimmy Smith

The South Pacific is notorious for a lot more than being the title of a popular Broadway musical. Its also the location of fabulous tropical islands, Polynesian culture, world war two historical sites, coral reefs, volcanoes, and more. There are thousands of tropical islands in the area that make fabulous vacation destinations. Some of the most famous islands are Fiji, French Polynesia, The Cook Islands, and Micronesia.

With such a variety of places to pick from, there is a little bit over everything in the South Pacific. Many islands are so tiny they are only beach and a nearby coral reef. Other islands are so enormous they contain volcanoes, a lot of animals, and even canyons. For any lover of tropical beaches, there are many island options for the sun worshiper in you. Here are a list of some of the most famous and best islands in the area:

For those seeking adventure, Fiji remains the best island to choose from. This country has some 322 islands and less than a third are inhabited. Most of the action happens on the western islands. Fiji has excellent diving and Kadavu is one of Fiji's best dive sites. The more energetic can go trekking in the Nausori Highlands overlooking Nadi. Taveuni also offers good hiking in the Bouma National Heritage Parki.

French Polynesia is one of the best romantic island destinations in the area, if not the world. Tahiti is famous for its expensive resorts and spas. The resort bungalows are like you see in postcards- right over the water. In the morning, start off with a swim and finish your day with a romantic candlelight meal on the beach. Tahiti is built around romance and luxury. Whatever you desire, can happen here.

Vanautu lies just south of the Solomon Islands and is a great place to go that is off the beaten path. Underwater visibility is great here and there seems to be a limitless amount of schools of colorful fish as well as a lot of submerged WWII wreckages. Above sea level, the scenery only gets more amazing, with beautiful palm trees, white sand beaches, and a clear blue sky.

Visitors to Micronesia can enjoy spectacular diving, for example the many underwater wrecks in Chuuk. The ruins of Nan Madol in Pohnpei are also worth the trip, providing a fascinating view back to the 13th century Saudeleur dynasty who ruled there. Or if all you want to do is wind down, find a nice atoll and bask in the sunlight. It's the kind of place where you pack your watch away and forget about time for a while. Don't forget the sunscreen though.

Islands in the south pacific will always remain some of the best in the world. These locations offer some of the best beaches, best diving, best ocean on the planet. Besides beauty, they have great food, a rich and diverse island culture, and a good way of life. These islands are great to relax on or pamper yourself at. No matter what you want in a tropical island, the south pacific has it.

New York Life and Bazaars

By Mercie Hallow

There was a time when I overheard my sister in law claimed that New York was her favorite city in the world. She told me of her fun encounters in this city with jubilant eyes and enthusiastic expression. I second the motion. New York is a very charming city and is a place that is bursting with life and people. Every corner and every street in New York is a great place to be. New York is one place that spells out fun and fabulous.

New York is full of shops, retail outlets, malls, boutiques that cater to the tastes of people from different walks of life. The city is filled with restaurants, historical edifices, offices, theatres, apartments, churches, schools and also well, queer spaces. Almost anything can be found in New York whether you are looking for jewelries, farm produces, clothing, etc. The list is endless. New York is also a place for hundreds of flea markets and a favorite place for bazaars, craft fairs and craft shows.

A lot of New Yorkers find a business opportunity through crafting. During fairs, we can see a wide deal of home made and hand made crafts and products by the sellers. These sellers are very creative individuals who managed to transform their hobby to a money generating opportunity. They are gifted with creativity that they were not hesitant to share to the world. Coupled with a good business sense and financial education, their little hobby can be a successful business.

A crafts fair in New York is described as fun, colorful and full of life. Sellers show off their interesting pieces in their colorful and well presented stalls. Sometimes, a live music or dance show is performed on the fair event to bring entertainment and enrich the shoppers experience. Crafts fairs are a great time to buy interesting curio and items that are sometimes lovingly crafted and made with the sellers own hands.

Visit a bazaar near your area and have fun.

Patriotism In South Dakota Craft Shows

By Rick Amorey

Initially, South Dakota may seem very similar to a lot of the Great Plains States. It has vast areas of land, with agriculture as a key figure in its economy. Sadly, it has experienced rising numbers of rural flight; the kids these days want to go elsewhere for a better life, as they believe. They seek their fortunes someplace else.

But, if you know your history, South Dakota is also known for something else. It is an important tourist attraction, for the first two centuries of our country's great history is etched right here in our State. South Dakota, as it turns out, is the spot where Mount Rushmore and the four presidents that are carved on it stand.

Of course, we are proud of the people whose imagery is carved onto the face of the mountain. But this tourist spot is not without its share of controversy. Native American Indians have said that the mountain is a sacred place, at least to them, and they claim that it has been desecrated because of this.

But even though there are controversies like these, one cannot deny that the image is already an icon of American history. Because of this, South Dakota opens its doors to about two million tourists every year. They come to view Mount Rushmore and are always on the lookout for interesting souvenirs.

So, craftspeople now have an excellent opportunity for a small business venture here. Patriotism is at very high levels in Mount Rushmore, and crafted items that show these cultural icons are always good. It's heartwarming that a lot of Americans are interested in the history of our country, and the struggles our ancestors had to attain independence.

Best of all, I am proud of the youth that take an interest in our country and its rich history. Such a patriotic soul often goes unrewarded; for my part, I try to make their visit memorable by making and distributing crafts inspired by Mount Rushmore.

Your Guide to Enjoying a Family Cruise Ship Vacation

By Irene Mmari

Imagine a cool and relaxing way to spend the summer holidays with a family vacation aboard a cruise ship. There are many different options to explore to spend the holiday with your loved one. The thrills that you get from camping, jungle trekking or scuba diving may not equal the sheer pleasures of traveling aboard a cruise ship.

Setting sail on water is fun and it is something that most of is would love to do. Boats are expensive and most of us cannot afford one anyway. We have an interesting piece of information for you: a family vacation aboard a cruise ship can be for anyone irrespective of whether they understand sailing or not. Try going on a cruise vacation.

What are the chances that your family will love the experience of vacationing on board a cruise ship? Despite that preferences, cruise liners are often enjoyed by everyone, not matter what their age because they offer a wide range of activities. There will always be something exciting for you to do on a cruise liner.

Consider these issues before you make the decision about arranging a family vacation aboard a cruise ship. If you prefer quiet evening away from the crowd, probably being aboard a cruise ship would not be suitable as a few nights on a hired yacht. Children and adults will find plenty of activities to do on a cruise liner. You can choose to swim in the pool, laze around on the deck, or gamble to your heart's desire.

The good news, just about every family cruise ship vacation has first class provisions for looking after children so the adults can have some time off. If you are traveling with small children, these childcare centers may allow you to have private moments by yourself or with your spouse. These are often provided free of charge.

One biggest benefit of a cruise vacation is the quality time spent together. While it is true that this quality time together can be spent anywhere, it is often more memorable on a cruise liner. The close corridors should not be viewed as a disadvantage. Teenagers, for instance do not see time spent with the family as a worthwhile investment.

This is a wonderful time to reconnect with them without becoming too obvious. Do not leave the camera behind because you will want to capture these memories. In addition to enjoying your cruise in the present, you and your family will also be able to enjoy it in the future. Take delight to know that these vacations are usually offered at low prices and can be enjoyed by many.
