Building An Authoritative Travel Blog

Authoritative blogs seem all the rage at the moment but what exactly is an " Authoritative Travel Blog ?" Well my understanding of the matter is it is a blog that is not only very informative to the readers but that the information comes from authoritative type people in connection with what they are writing about.

Hopefully my articles below will give an insight on travel and travel related experiences from all over the world from many authoritative writers as they have been there and done that.

Articles will be and are published often and this means current travel experiences and up to date places to visit. If you have also visited these places or wish to comment then please do so remembering this blog is intended to family orientated visitors so please be respectful.

I have seen many fears raised through my article site and feel that any traveller today that, for one reason or another, decides against travel insurance then they are possibly being a little short sighted. We do not want our boats to sink but are happy to carry life rafts. travel insurance is a similar idea. We do not wish to ever claim on it but if things go wrong as they sometimes do it is a benifit to have the insurance.

Natural Talent At Georgia Craft Fairs

By Seamus Willingham

Each one of us has a talent or two, that's pretty much a fact. Some individuals have skill with sports, some are quite excellent chefs in the kitchen. And a few have interestingly unique hobbies which most people have never even heard of. These are some qualities that make us different from the other specie on the planet.

Of these hobbies, however, the art of making crafts is arguably the most rewarding of the selection. Due to the fact that the creator produces something that is three-dimensional and durable. Quite unlike food that gets eaten up, or sports that are for mostly for spectators, handcrafted items will last long after you are gone.

Thus, it is helpful for your crafts to bear a hint of your own personality. This will naturally come into play, but it bears noting that there are some who fail at this. They try and try, but the crafts that they create come out as lifeless and bland.

These people, I'm afraid, are simply trying too hard. Crafts should reflect the soul, and as such the craftsperson should never try to make something that she feels aren't right. Make something that you feel like doing, and not a superficial crafting fad that you've only seen recently.

Crafting is a richly rewarding hobby. Notice that your emotions at the moment you crafted the items, will also be apparent in the final product. Personally, I prefer to do my crafted works when I'm in a thoughtful mood, as it adds a bit of "depth" to the piece.

On the other hand, some people like to make their piece when they are agitated or depressed. Their crafts then take on a gloomy, or angry visage, which is also interesting in some aspects. I, for one, would think it would attract negative spirits. But this sort of style fits in nicely in some decorative niches.

Going About Arizona Fairs

By Percival Wilke

Arizona is a state proud of its rich Native American heritage. It is recognized as a center of Native American art, in particular, and in fact has a number of museums that have Native American art as a major attraction. As a result, both contempory and modern artists are visiting here; more and more people are getting in touch with the artistic soul.

This connection to a person's innate artistry makes the craft fairs so popular in the area. The chance to showcase skills and talents with a lot more people leaves many an artisan excited; the fact that they also earn a bit on the side is just the icing on the cake. If you're an artist of craftsperson who has never been to a craft fair, then you have been missing out on a lot.

A lot of young artists show apprehension about attending craft shows simply because they do not know how to go about setting up a booth. I will try to explain how to go about starting up your booth; what you do with once it is up and running is entirely up to you and artistic vision. Don't worry much about it, though; it is actually a lot easier to start than it seems, you just have to now how to start.

The first step is to go to an online website and check for listings for shows that'll happen within the year. Pick the best ones; if you're just beginning, I would advise to go with the non-juried shows. Other than that, consider other practical reasons: The distance of the craft show from the area you live, the price of the booth and what comes with it, and other things.

After you've narrowed down the list of craft fairs that you might want to attend, get their contact information as well, and then communicate with some of the event organizers. many people forget that communication in any endeavor is vital, and then get angry when they believe that they were misinformed. Sometimes, the deal isn't what they expect it to be.

Always keep in mind that not every craft show runs things the same way. So if one show includes a booth with a tablecloth, and the other doesn't even include the chairs, don't be surprised. That's just how it is.

The International Edible Book Festival in Northwood, New Hampshire

By Mercie Hallow

I am a bookworm. Reading is my passion as I literally grew up with them in our house. My mom is a bookworm herself and I must have gotten it from her. A very good piece of book can really make my day. Books are part of my collections and I will continue to collect more in the years to come. I wish that my daughter will acquire that passion too. That makes 3 generations of bookworms.

Have you ever heard of a book festival wherein after the show the books are eaten by the attendees? There is such a festival indeed! The books on display are sure to satisfy anyones gastronomic cravings as they are not just fun to read but delicious to eat too! These books are actually made of edible food that had been created as a fun and delicious treat. Think of art cakes. Modern bakers are making art cakes through the use of fondant and sugar paste. We can see cakes in form of books, people, a castle and even a pair of shoes!

The festival is held in Northwood, New Hampshire is a Festival that is celebrated on April 1st in over 18 countries including: Canada, Morocco, United States, Mexico, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Netherlands, Ireland, Germany, Australia, Brazil, France, England, India, Italy, Japan, Russia and Hongkong. The chosen date was in commemoration with the birthday of French gastronome Jean-Anthelme Brillat-Savarin (1755-1826) writer of the famous literary piece, Physiologie du gout . The Festival started in 2000.

The town of Northwood in New Hampshire is set to celebrate its 2nd Annual Edible Book Festival this year. Participants are encouraged to document their creations and upload it to the master website of The International Edible Book Festival. It is very timely that the unique event is set on April 1st which is April fools Day because it is a perfect day to play with words and eat them!

I definitely can't wait to be in this Festival as there are just too many books to read and too many of them to eat!

Hawaiian Souvenirs at Craft Fairs

By Rick Amorey

At one point in their lives, most Americans have wanted to go to Hawaii. Who doesn't dream of the warm sunlight on your on their skin? Who wouldn't want to experience the festive mood of the islands? And who doesn't want to enjoy amazing beaches? Truly, Hawaii is a paradise to many people.

Unfortunately, these same people are saddened when they realize the need to return to their normal lives. Unless they plan to start settling here permanently, they will have to return to normalcy. It is a shame to leave such a beautiful place without at least taking something back home.

What's stopping you from buying souvenirs, though? There are a good number of novelty items to be found in Hawaii. There are so many crafts available, in fact, that the problem will be choosing the right souvenir to bring home.

Even so, I would dearly recommend having as wide of a selection as you possibly can when buying your souvenir. So if you're in Hawaii, and you're getting ready to go home, don't just buy trinkets from the first shop that you see. Broaden your options; that way you can choose the most adequate one for you.

I would recommend something else instead; mainly, try going to a craft show in Hawaii. There, you'll have a wide selection of things to buy, as the works of various craftspeople are showcased. Your eyes will brighten with the rich culture of the Hawaiian Islands. Now all you have to do is to find a craft show occurring near where you're currently staying.

To find craft shows near where you're staying, I recommend searching for Hawaii Craft Shows in the Internet. I'm sure you'll quickly find a site that catalogs all craft shows for the year, and by going there, you can find the right craft to take home.

Do you plan on going to Hawaii soon, preparing for the big trip? If this is the case, then go search for craft shows online as well. This time, though, you get the added benefit of preparing your lodging in such a way that will make it within the vicinity of the show.

Smaller memories tend to also mean smaller, more compact players as well. The bottom line is that when you get an RCA MP3 player you can get exactly what you want and need.

Of course, disk space is not the only thing that matters when it comes to an RCA MP3 player. You also want to look for other great features. Be Welcome At Minnesota Craft Fairs

By Terence Cole

I do not like to label archetypes, so to speak. The labeling of another person through stereotypes tends to be downright insulting, and history tells us that these attitudes have started wars. While all of this is true, however, it is also true that most such archetypes suffer because they are explicitly negative. A stereotype of positive attitudes could prove useful in promoting a group of people.

Let's take the people living in the State of Minnesota, for one. The residents are generally known for being "nice people"; but that doesn't mean they'll go out of their way for you, but they can be quite agreeable when visitors come to town. Although I'm not saying that every individual who lives here is like this, of course. It?s just that it's always a nice feeling when kindness is shown, regardless of where it's from.

This good-natured attitude is something the residents show to visitors, as well as to each other. It's really no surprise that most people in Minnesota have a strong sense of community, as well as culture. Take the State's classic holiday dishes, the feel-good movies, and their well-mannered accents. Needless to say, Minnesota also has a wide variety of fairs and festivals around.

These events are where their hospitality truly shine; even their State Fair is known as The Great Minnesota Get-Together. The good-natured demeanor of the people is one of the primary reasons for this fair being the most populous fairs around. Be charmed by their hospitality and enjoy your stay.

Another facet of the Minnesota fairs that you may probably like is the amount of arts and crafts you'll see around. Juried shows are called crop art, and you must be able to make an artwork out of a plant. This is a really unique twist to arts and crafts. And even so, the organic material will last for a long time.

Go Go To Johnny B Good's in NY's Catskill Mountains

By LJ James

Over the years I have done a few stories on the New York Catskill Mountains and I have done a few stories about places I have enjoyed eating at. Well recently while I was once again up in the Catskill Mountains, I went to a 50's Thyme Diner called "Johnny B Good" located at 5806 RT 23 in the NY Town of Acra.

I was upstate in the Catskills Mountains at my Sister's for the Holidays. My Mother, My Niece and I where out checking out the area. After looking around a bunch of really cool antique stores in the Town of Catskill itself We where all getting Hungry.

Now as I have said before I love to eat! Now my Sister being my Sister well she too loves to eat and I had heard her and my Brother in Law mention Johnny B Good as a great place to eat more then once. So it was the place I wanted to check out!

As we arrived right off the bat I could see from the outside it really looked like an Old style 50's Diner. Now It seems these days everyone has a catch or a thyme to get you threw the door. So as good as the place looked from the outside, I was going to wait before I gave it a thumbs up. As we entered I could see they hadn't missed much with the 50's (and a little bit of the 60's) thyme on the inside. We sat down and started to look threw our menu's and order some food. As I looked though the Lunch and Dinner section of my menu I saw all the meals had names that helped to take you back. There where meals called the Peggy Sue Special , Jimmy Durrante Rueben , La Bamba Burger , Tarzan of the Jungle Salads and the Wimpy Burger (For Wimps) to name just a few. Now being a Biker I felt an obligation to order the Marlon Brando Mushroom Cheeseburger with Onion Rings.

While waiting for my food I started checking out the Breakfast Menu and found a few more Classic meal names like the Rita Hayworth Cheese Omelet , The Cisco Kid Chili Cheese Omelet, The Jolly Green Giant Veggie Omelet and I am going to have to go back to try some of their Hot Rod Pancakes!

I then got up and started to look around at all the great 50's Memorabilia Johnny B Good's had to offer hanging on the walls. There where of Course pictures of the King "Elvis", some old Movie poster's , Pictures of many of your favorite 50's stars, some Classic 45s, some of those old plastic circle things you used to have to put inside the 45's so you could play them on your turn table, (did those things have a name?) and even some old personal Pictures brought in by friends of the owner Bobbi.

I got to meet and speak with Bobbi the owner. I found her to be extremely Friendly. After just a few moments talking to her I could tell she really loves the place. There was no hiding the fact that she puts her heart and Soul into giving Johnny B Good that Nostalgic feel of a 50's hang out. It really is a place where everyone feels at home enjoying a meal with Friends.Bobbi told me during the Summer months Johnny B Good holds many Cruise Nights and many people from far and wide show up in Classic Cars and on Classic Motorcycles. They all hang out showing off their rides talking and eating! On a hot Summer Night both the young and old love to stop by and enjoy an Old fashion Style Ice Cream Soda or Root Beer Float .

Now as I have said before how a Restaurant makes you feel just being there does count for something, but when it comes right down to it the Bottom line is taste and there Bobbi and Johnny B Good's have the most important blast from the past down and this is good old fashion Quality and Taste.

I recommend you stop by Johnny B Good when you are out Cruising up in the Catskill Mountains! Just make sure to remember while in the Catskill Mountains taking this trip back in time at Johnny B Good's "Nobody puts Baby in a corner"!!!

Be sure to check them out on-line at Myspace.com/JohnnyBGood50

Luxury Cruises - Travel In A Hotel To Exciting Ports Of Call

By Dorothy Yamich

A luxury cruise voyage can truly enrich your life. Not only will you be traveling with like-minded people who love to cruise, you will develop great, lasting friendships among your many cruising companions.

When you cruise you can travel to fabulous ports of call anywhere that cruise ships sail. Not only are there mega cruise liners which everyone is familiar with, there are a number of different sizes and types of ships. The medium, and particularly the smaller size cruise ships can navigate further up inland waterways to cities and historic landmarks where larger ships could never go.

The larger cruise ships generally have one or possibly two organized shore excursions at each port of call. If there are two sightseeing shore excursions scheduled the same day, one may happen early in the morning and the second one in the afternoon. Most shore excursions at take place in the morning normally get back to the ship in time for the people to dine on a fantastic lunch buffet.

Occasionally, on a second excursion, you may arrive back at your cruise ship late in the afternoon or early evening. This could possibly make you a bit late for dinner if you've been scheduled for the first sitting.

It is also your prerogative to explore the city, town, or island attractions and landmarks on your own. Please remember that it is your responsibility to get back on time or your cruise ship could sail without you. However, if you choose to book a shore excursion with the cruise ship, they will not sail until everyone is back on board.

Take full advantage of the time you have in port by using it wisely. Some vacationers decide to disembark and go it alone by hiring a car and driver to take them to see and explore the sights. Usually taxi drivers charge by the carload and not per person so if you want to save some money you can split the cost with a few other fellow passengers. If you leave early in the morning you may be able to get back in time to enjoy the lunch buffet.

When you cruise you should bring a detailed guide book or books that cover each of the destinations you know that you will be visiting. Even if the weather is less than optimal for your shore excursion, always take your camera as the weather, if inclement, can improve very quickly.

And don't judge any port by the dock and the surrounding area. It is usually the freighter unloading and loading area and major warehouse district of the city or town. You will probably have to travel out of the port area and into the town or city to see the historical sites and unique tourist attractions as well as experience the local culture.

What are the differences between a river cruise and a barge tour?

Although they have some similarities, there are differences between these two types of water sightseeing tours. Firstly, the ships that sail the rivers can handle approximately up to one hundred and eighty people, while barges usually can accommodate from five to twenty-five people. The second significant difference is that the river cruises can visit a number of countries and cities in a week, while barges traverse man-made canals from town to town and move at a much slower, leisurely pace, and can cover approximately only fifty miles in a week. Thirdly, river cruise ships have a restaurant, lounge, and entertainment, while the more intimate barges are essentially first-class, floating hotels, having a dining room and lounge as well as a sun deck. The most popular river cruises and barging tours are in Europe.

What are luxury cruise tour packages?

Cruise tour packages are similar to regular cruises that stop for half-day or full day shore excursions but give you the best of both a luxury cruise and a land holiday all wrapped up in one. The main differences between the two is that the land part of your holiday includes transportation by luxury motor coach or train travel to a centrally located first class hotel accommodation at your inland destination. You will be chaperoned by a professional tour guide for the land part of your itinerary. These combo cruise and land packages are usually longer, lasting from ten days to three weeks or for even a month or more. On most cruise tours you have the option to take the land segment of your vacation either before or after your cruise.

Besides Europe, you can book a cruise tour for South America, Australia, Asia and the United States. Alaska is one of the most popular cruise tour destinations in the world.

If you would like to enjoy the best of both worlds - an incredible dream cruise holiday and a land tour adventure - a luxury cruise tour is truly the ultimate vacation experience.
