The 2008 movie 21 is in honor of Las Vegas and its gambling sprees. The movie started with a young and poor college student named Campbell played by Jim Sturgess who applies for the renowned Robinson Scholarship in Harvard Medicine School which will pay for his 300,000 USD tuition fee. He was asked by the interview to relate what sets him apart from all other applicants and challenged him to dazzle him. Campbell then relates his life as a card counter in a Las Vegas casino hotel.
He was discovered by his Math professor portrayed by Kevin Spacey when he successfully solved a difficult Monty Hall problem in class. He was then invited by Spacey to be part if his exclusive blackjack team of card counters, taking them every weekends to Vegas. He was proven to be a bright addition to the team as he soon started earning money for Spacey and for himself.
The movie made a sudden twist as Campbell lost a large sum one night that made Spacey kicked him out of the club and stole all his earnings from his home in an attempt to pay him back what he lost. Campbell managed to convince Spacey to get him back on the team and made a truce with the rest of the team to double cross Spacey so they can have all the earnings for themselves.
Las Vegas is indeed a world of lights, wine and money and- oh yes, quick marriages!
