Naples is a mere hop, skip and jump from the "Everglades" an untamed tropical wonderland. Or if it is island seclusion you are seeking, you will find it. This is one of the most famous sand-boxes in the US and it boasts the calmest seas as well as one of the best climates. Many water sports enthusiasts, beach lovers and enthusiastic vacationers love this city for its many recreational facilities.
Sunsets, shopping and sand, what more could the vacationer ask for? Adventure of course and this can be found in Everglades wilderness adventures, where visitors are able to enjoy the thrill of meeting animals such as bison, panther, birds and alligators in the wild. Bird watching is the favorite pastime of many people, and in fact most people fancy themselves as amateur birdwatchers.
There are over 10,000 uninhabited islands in the Everglades which is a tropical paradise composed of varied ecosystems. Exploring these by kayak and canoe means floating through tunnels of mangrove and over prairies composed of saw-grass. If you are a lucky adventurer you might just meet up with a local school of friendly dolphins or manatees, and perhaps even come eye-to eye with the much maligned and sinister alligator. This kind of adventure will make for some unforgettable memories.
If you prefer your animal life a little less out in the open, the Naples Zoo at the Caribbean Gardens is a must-see. This is a nationally accredited facility and you are able to experience the beauty of a historic botanical garden blended together with a zoological collection which is second to none. All day long the zoo presents exciting wildlife exhibits and you are even able to take a cruise past a tiger forest, panther glade and African oasis and see islands filled with gallivanting monkeys.
Naples has a host of water-spots available, not least of which is the fishing. If you are an enthusiastic angler, you are able to come into contact with both inland and off-shore fishing, and there are a wide variety game fish to catch.
A visit to Naples would not be complete without at least one attempt to see the gentle manatee in is own habitat. You will find various guides who claim to be able to take you to a spot where you will find them. And one guide company in particular, says you don't have to pay for your trip if you don't get to see a manatee.
