The first thing you do is to check out the fliers. Before you go out and start hunting for bulletin boards, though, why not check out what you can find online first? Fliers these days are no longer made with dead trees, they are instead made of bytes in .pdf or .html formats. Look for these using your Internet search engines.
Better yet, look for a list online. It's not that hard to fine websites that keep a listing of all the events that happen in your state, or even for all the states in the country. So, once you've done that, it's only a matter of choosing the right one. How do you go about doing this?
First thing to think about is practicality. Even though gas prices have down, it's still prudent to not waste it on long travel. That said, look for events that are close to your home. You don't have to bring your crafts too far from home or wake up early when your event is right near where you live.
Aside from the distance, you'll also have to consider the show's quality. Try to search for past coverage of the show you're looking at, chances are, it is already happening on an annual basis. If you can find someone who has had a booth there before, then so much the better. Inquire about how things are run. If they have bad reviews, then it's probably best to avoid that show for now.
