Building An Authoritative Travel Blog

Authoritative blogs seem all the rage at the moment but what exactly is an " Authoritative Travel Blog ?" Well my understanding of the matter is it is a blog that is not only very informative to the readers but that the information comes from authoritative type people in connection with what they are writing about.

Hopefully my articles below will give an insight on travel and travel related experiences from all over the world from many authoritative writers as they have been there and done that.

Articles will be and are published often and this means current travel experiences and up to date places to visit. If you have also visited these places or wish to comment then please do so remembering this blog is intended to family orientated visitors so please be respectful.

I have seen many fears raised through my article site and feel that any traveller today that, for one reason or another, decides against travel insurance then they are possibly being a little short sighted. We do not want our boats to sink but are happy to carry life rafts. travel insurance is a similar idea. We do not wish to ever claim on it but if things go wrong as they sometimes do it is a benifit to have the insurance.

The Romance Of A Vacation Aboard A Luxury Cruise Ship

By Ned Dagostino

For most of us the opportunity to take a "vacation" comes once a year or even twice. You pack your family and the dog into Ye Olde Faithful and do the routine run to Des Moines or Wichita or Whatever! The destinations may differ from year to year, but the "vacation" comes with the standard features: motels all booked up, Junior realizes he wanted to go to summer camp after all, Baby's got the runs, and Suzie is crying over her first pimple! But sometimes, grudgingly rare sometimes, you want something special, really special. You got the directorship over Bill Grady, or maybe Helena has come back to you. Whatever the reason, you don't want to take a "vacation". You want a vacation, the genuine article, the real thing! OK, this is when you listen to that little voice in your head whispering with all the force of a Chinese-made 2 billion watt PMPO handheld MP3 player: "Cruise! Cruise!" You decide it can't be Tom, so you book yourself and the family (Ruff can stay with Mrs. Doherty) onto a fabulous magical vacation aboard the cruise ship "Mirabile Dictu". You don't know what it means but you also know that the father-in-law won't either!

The fare is all-inclusive and you don't have to pay any other vacation-related charge while on board. There are two reasonable exceptions: the drinks you consume on board and extra excursions that you make when the ship docks at a port. Apart from these two exceptions, all your meals, entertainment and many other activities all come in the price of the ticket. This is a big relief for many tourists who don't like unexpected expenses while vacationing.

Cruise ship operators are actually large scale event managers. The whole cruise is a single extended theme-based event. Maybe it is a "Rockin' Roller" cruise where modern music is the main attraction. Or it could be a "Balmy Bonhomie" cruise meant for families, alumni groups, and groups belonging to particular social clubs. The whole cruise is 'dressed up' in the theme from the attendants, the entertainment shows, the activities, to the ship itself. You quickly slip into the mood of the theme and the enjoyment begins!

Depending on the cruise ship and the vacation plan you choose, you have many ways to relax or enjoy yourself. If it's relaxation you want, then you can slip into a pool, or sit by the pool, or drape yourself over a deckchair. There are activities galore on board the cruise liner, designed for every type of passenger. You won't miss anything that you get on land, except the smog, the noise, and the traffic! You want a massage? There's an excellent spa with a professionally trained masseur in attendance. A beauty salon is available if you wish to have a facial or have your hair done. Round-the-clock restaurants are there whenever you feel peckish. Evening entertainment in the form of musicals and theatricals are provided with big stars as an attraction.

One of the big hassles of vacationing is the problem of catering for very young children (bless them!). Anyway, on a cruise ship you will find babysitting services, special camps, teen clubs for your children to amuse themselves safely, under supervision while you and your spouse and the older children find your own form of entertainment. It's an ideal situation!

Let's talk money. You'll be pleasantly surprised that contrary to general opinion, these cruises do not require you to have an oil well in Texas to afford one! The cruise operators design the whole cruise in a very professional manner, taking the advice of financial and business experts. So they have "packages" or "plans" which are designed to suit every budget. The packages vary in two different aspects: tour duration, and accommodation. A three-day cruise will be appreciably cheaper than a fortnighter. Similarly, an interior room will be less expensive than a stateroom. Just to put things in perspective, a 'small' room on one of these cruise ships is as large as a large hotel room, so you're not exactly going to get cramps in that 'small' room!

So whether it's just the two of you, or whether it's the whole family, a cruise on a luxury cruise liner is going to be an experience that will last you a lifetime! So come on! Put your name down for the "Hawaiian Holiday" cruise and you'll come back wearing a smile and a lei!
