Building An Authoritative Travel Blog

Authoritative blogs seem all the rage at the moment but what exactly is an " Authoritative Travel Blog ?" Well my understanding of the matter is it is a blog that is not only very informative to the readers but that the information comes from authoritative type people in connection with what they are writing about.

Hopefully my articles below will give an insight on travel and travel related experiences from all over the world from many authoritative writers as they have been there and done that.

Articles will be and are published often and this means current travel experiences and up to date places to visit. If you have also visited these places or wish to comment then please do so remembering this blog is intended to family orientated visitors so please be respectful.

I have seen many fears raised through my article site and feel that any traveller today that, for one reason or another, decides against travel insurance then they are possibly being a little short sighted. We do not want our boats to sink but are happy to carry life rafts. travel insurance is a similar idea. We do not wish to ever claim on it but if things go wrong as they sometimes do it is a benifit to have the insurance.

Economical Homemade Boilies And Pastes For Carp Which Save Money

By Tim Richardson

Fishing bait from fishing shops can really make going carp fishing an expensive passion! Many anglers are now so conditioned to using readymade baits that they have never seriously considered the huge advantages of making very unique baits for themselves, but they will catch as many if not higher numbers of fish than commercial baits. The fact that homemade bait will cost you a fraction of the cost of readymade baits and over the days and weeks shocking savings can be achieved with no less fish (in fact quite the opposite!)

Every time I have used a homemade bait that is different to the popular baits on a water, big fish have appeared and this is one of those definite points about carp which you can exploit using homemade baits. Fish learn by association and will find your new baits much harder to resist than popular readymades that already have been exploited. This difference is often the factor that decides if you get a run of big fish, or just average results, or series of memorable personal best fish sessions or lots of blanks!

Now I'm not saying that you will produce a wonder bait which fish simply jump straight into your net and beg for! Even with the very best baits, all the usual skills of fish location, bait application and skilfully playing your big fish are still required. But on your own homemade baits, the rewards and joys of catching your personal life time best fish on your personal secret bait formula is just incredible. This is why it is so important to exploit the massive fish catching factor of making your baits very unique.

The funny thing is, most carp anglers never stop to think and see that by using readymade baits they could be cutting their chances by well over half. This is because at any point in time you will be fishing against an unknown number of other anglers who may all be using the bait you are. Your readymade bait has no more chance of catching fish than the next guys. But if you know how to adapt them or make your own, you are putting your baits catching potential in a different league to Mr Average! With a different bait your chances can really skyrocket and it pays you back enormously many times over repeatedly for making minor effort with your bait!

Popular baits in many ways do have a shelf life in terms of longevity of effectiveness. Top bait manufacturers will tell you that even in a stock pond which has never been fished, when a new bait has been fished intensively by a number of anglers successfully, their results can slow right up even literally to the point of no more fish being caught on that bait. (This is no exaggeration, for example Gary Bayes of the international bait company Nashbaits told me of his experience of this!) Many baits exploit highly concentrated flavors in order to affect bait pH to stimulate fish. Others use the biological nutritional value approach and call their baits food baits for this reason.

I could not believe how easy and simple it was for me to make baits that hooked big fish straight away literally while still hot, even using the most basic of ingredients. Homemade baits can be just amazingly instant and fill you will so much confidence. I do not even bother to make baits that have a round or barrel shape or an even skin at all and I most often do not even boil them to make them resilient boilies either. This is because your greatest edge with bait is their difference. Therefore if you bait feels different, has a different shape, colour, texture, buoyancy, density, firmness or softness or permeability or solubility for example, then it is far more likely to out-fish readymades with ease! That is why making homemade baits is so easy.

You do not have to make individual baits in round shapes. Why not roll out a bait paste made of eggs, liquid additives and dry powders made into a dough and simply cut this into little odd shaped pieces? You could pop these into a pan of boiling water for about a minute or so to make boilies.

Making baits is very easy. You merely need a large container to mix your ingredients in and a knife or spoon to mix the materials to form a practical bait dough. First just get a handful of eggs and a teaspoonful of cake flavor and mix together well, then add your dry powders, etc a bit a time until a firm dough is reached.

When your dough is ready you can use it immediately, or put it labelled plastic bags for later use. Store baits in the fridge or freeze them. It is best to make a note of the ingredients and levels in each individual bait mix. To make around a kilogram of bait it takes about 6 eggs with your dry powders. But this is a very rough guide and every mix can vary widely depending on ingredients, their solubility etc.

I understand value like anyone else so making homemade bait for 3 pounds as opposed to buying it for 12 pounds makes great economic sense. This is startling especially when you think of the saving on 10 or 20 kilograms of homemade baits compared to commercially produced readymade ones. The saving can be in the region of 80 or 90 pounds for just 10 kilograms of bait. You will have been using many kilograms in a season so figure your savings on homemade bait, it could easily total you not hundreds but thousands of pounds so easily saved!

If having a different bait can produce such a difference in results you may as well have the goal of being as innovative as possible with yours as you create new versions for those big fish you dream of catching. The spooky thing about new baits on a water is that they very often produce the biggest most sought after fish within a short space of fishing time because they are fresh and new. Now this is as great a motive as anyone needs to take up bait making and is the icing on the cake. You can use simple forms of bait mentioned here, but you will discover that with successful baits comes the excitement of making more creative ones, and bait making can be extremely exciting, even an integral addictive part of your fishing, as you thirst for more information!

Egypt Tours and Travel: Luxury Cruises in the Nile River

By Sam Njihia

River Nile remains one of the leading destinations for people traveling to Egypt ever since the ancient Egypt days of the Pharaohs. Today, the Nile maintains this top position in Egypt travel partly due to the incomparably enjoyable Nile cruise adventures. If you are taking a vacation in Egypt, you should not miss the chance to see the historical sites of Egypt along the banks of the Nile, while relaxing aboard the floating hotels that are the cruise ships. The ships have all the amenities of a modern hotel including restaurants, bars, lounges, shops, swimming pools, and discotheques.

The rooms in a typical Nile cruiser are smaller than those of land based hotels but they have air conditioning, TV and enough room for twin beds, private shower, nightstand and dresser. The quality of cruisers varies and they are graded with stars just like hotels. Top end cruisers have spacious suites and amenities almost equal to those of ocean cruisers. A majority of visitors who have been to Egypt say that the romance of Nile cruisers surpasses other riverboats anywhere else in the world.

Nile cruises may take three nights, four nights, or seven nights. On the trip, you will get to see a good number of the important sites and monuments of ancient Egypt especially on the more popular and considerably shorter cruise between Luxor and Aswan. If you are on a budget or have an adventurous heart, you may opt for sailing the Nile in a felluca " the traditional nile sailing vessels. The felluca option lacks most of the amenities of the luxury boats, but helps you save on costs.

River Nile is deep calm and is at its most glorious at the Aswan - in deed a good place to embark on your Nile cruise. Aswan was for long Egypts southern frontier city and gateway to Africa. This was the region known as Upper Egypt, being upstream of the Nile. After Aswan, the Nile passes through a section of hard rock, resulting in rapids or cataracts.

One of the historical attractions in Aswan is the Nubian museum, which highlights Nubian culture from way back in time. Nubians are the dark-skinned residents of Aswan who are closely related to the northern Sudan people. You can see several Nubian villages at Elephantine island in the Nile.

About 48 km north of Aswan lies the historical Kom Ombo, home to the famous Graeco-Roman temple. Ptolemy VII is credited with having started the construction of this temple in the early second century BC. A number of his successors continued the work. This includes emperor Augustus in around 30BC.

The Graeco-Roman temple is in fact two separate temples, each dedicated to a different god. The southern temple is in honor of the crocodile god " Sobek, while the northern temple is dedicated to Horus, the falcon god. Each temple has its own sanctuary, entrance, colonnades, and hypostyle hall. You get a chance to see mummified crocodiles in the Sobek temple.

Another travel destination you must visit during you Nile cruise is Luxor. No other site in Egypt can rival Luxor's magnificence, diversity, and range of monuments. The city was also known as Thebes by the Greeks. Around 2040 BC, Luxor was Egypt's capital. In the seventh century BC, Luxor survived an attempt by the Assyrians to destroy it. However, its stature slowly declined from then, till the first century BC when it was finally destroyed by the Romans.

The necropolis complexes in the valley of the kings is one of the main attractions in Luxor, alongside the valley of the queens, and the tombs of the nobles. A number of temples also straddle the Luxor region. Being on the west bank of the Nile, Luxor was the burial ground for the royals and the nobles, owing to the Ancient Egyptians tradition of burying their dead in the direction of the setting sun.

The period from November to March is the best season for traveling to take a Nile cruise, owing to cooler temperatures. This being the peak tourism season in Egypt, you should start your tours early in the day to avoid crowds. It is also advisable to hire a local guide when visiting the monuments, though normally the guide will be provided if you buy a Nile Cruise package from a good travel agent.

Caribbean Cruise Review

By John Siekdof

Caribbean cruise is among the widely popular cruise honeymoon destinations. The honeymoon couples just love the adventurous spree and the satisfaction of the Caribbean islands. Thus, cruising Caribbean is always special.

All you need to do is be sure that you are booking a good cruise line so that you get a perfect vacation experience that you are looking for. Here is a review on Caribbean cruise. Hope this will help you for your vacation.

Our trip and Caribbean cruise line

The cruise trip that we chose was at Western Caribbean. Carnival Cruise lines was the cruise line of our trip and ship was called the Carnival Conquest. I was touring Caribbean for the second time but my spouse was traveling Caribbean islands for the first time. We started our journey from New Orleans. We arrived at a New Orleans hotel a day before and took some rest there and then on the nest we started for out Caribbean cruise.

Preparation for the Trip

Our excitement level was so high that we reached the dock much before the cruise was to start. When we reached there, we saw that Carnival Conquest is unloading the passengers and after that it was prepared for the next trip, where we were supposed to board in.

We were waiting for our chance to get inside the ship and the queue was already rising. The luggage porters told that boarding time would be 10 am. Then we cleared our boarding pass and got the "sail & sign". We showed the necessary papers to the security and then got inside the ship.

All these procedures took around two more hours and it was actually 12:00 pm when we got on board finally. The wait was long but certainly not tiring. Carnival cruise takes good care of food and we already had our foods ready and started our Caribbean cruise.

First Day Experience

There were around 3000 people traveling on the cruise. So, it took quite a lot of time to get our luggage into the room. When we got the luggage, we checked that whether everything is there or not.

We were desperately looking for our swimming suits and as soon as we got our luggage, we changed and took a plunge into the swimming pool. After whole lot of entertainment and sight seeing, we got on to the dinner table around 8:00 pm and enjoyed a delicious dinner.

Some Great Moments

The first day was good but the actual pleasure of the Western Caribbean cruise was waiting for us in the second and the third day. We sailed through the Mississippi river and reached the Gulf of Mexico. In these two days, we enjoyed a lot. We participated in the lounge trivia, gambled in the casino, soaked up the sun, hit the gym and took some fabulous drinks.

Remember that you will have quite a few moments of lifetime on the Caribbean cruise. Hence, be sure that you have packed your camera.

The Joys of Going Around the World

By Gary Ardnt

There are many good reasons to travel around the world. You'll get to experience a lot of wonderful, meet a lot of wonderful people, and see the world. It is better than sitting in an office doing work as youll never be short of things to do. A lot of times people dont go traveling around the world because they are scared or dont have the money. However, these things that hold people back can be easily thrown aside.

A huge number of travel books allow people to see and somehow experience the rest of the world through pictures and vivid descriptions. There are those that offer a hundred places to see before one dies; there are those that state a number of cities one must visit to be able to experience what it feels like to live elsewhere and what the rest of the world can offer you.

Traveling also helps you learn about people. Back at home, your only interaction with people and other cultures is what you see on tv. This is not always an accurate portrayal of other cultures. By actually seeing these people, you will have a better understanding of others and their history. It helps break down the stereotypes and misconceptions that can create tensions and problems in the world.

Traveling relaxes the mind while broadening it at the same time. It allows people to understand what a specific countys culture is and why its natives act the way they do. It makes a traveler realize that his own country or someone elses country is not better. Every country is superb because it is enriched by a culture no other place can boast of.

You get more relaxed on the travel the globe. Back home, there is always so much to do and think about that you are going a mile a minute. You never feel like there is time to breath. However, when you are traveling, you dont have to worry about anything except where you want to go next. Theres no bills to worry about, no meetings, no errands to run. Its just you and the destination you are at.

There are many benefits to traveling the world. Besides all the people and places that you experience, you personally change. Traveling changes you for the better. One of the greatest things about life on the road is that you get to learn so much about yourself. You learn what you like, dont like, can do, and cant do. You learn that you can learn. But youll never know if you dont travel around the world so get out there and get going.

America's Paradise is the US Virgin Islands

By Simon N James

Located among 50 islands with the US Virgin Islands are the three islands of St. Thomas, St. John, and St. Croix where some of the best diving in the region can be found. Accessing these islands is simple with flights from many major US airports daily.

St. Thomas

Typically the dive centres will take you to a dive site located at the waters of Pillsbury Sound between St. Thomas and St. John to dive the various shipwrecks encrusted with bright sponges and coral. One nice example is the General Rogers what is a 120-foot US Coast Guard buoy which was sunk to form a reef which sits upright in around 60 feet of water. The reef as grown on the buoy and has created an Orange cup coral and others with abundance of fishes such as angelfish and grunts.

Island of St. John

Located between the islands St. John and St. Thomas are two very popular diving locations called Congo Cay and Carval Rock. Carval rock a nice dive site which is home to many turtles, swarming silversides, cruising reef sharks, and waving sea rods and gorgonians. The swim-through is a must do which tower is between two towering rock faces is covered with vibrant marine life.

Congo Cay's is an opposite dive to Carval Rock with a drift dive though some amazing weathered; the dive site has its own resident sting rays creating a lovely dive. Both dive sites can be done from a basic level but if the weather is bad only experienced divers can dive.

St. Croix

North side of St. Croix is one of the best wall dives in the Caribbean, the wall starts only 100 yards of the beach line and drops to several thousand feet, there are around 20 dive sites located along the wall with varying natures features such as pinnacles, ledges, walls and caverns.

Road Trip! Music Festivals 2

By Ian Kleine

With camping out, the tent is usually the more favored choice of because of the comfort the soft grass gives (just make sure you're camping out in the soft grass and not in the soft poo or in the soft piss-laden mud). But make sure that you know what your tent looks like. In a sea of vinyl and rainbow-colored tents, good luck finding your abode (the chances of you finding a needle in a haystack would probably seem better).

Have a landmark (like a large rock beside your tent, not over it, especially if the plain is actually an inclination). But worst things come to worst, is finding yourself in the wrong tent, and waking up with the wrong buddy. Oh hell.

And speaking of piss-laden mud, you'd know that festivals would usually mean one thing: beer. Tons and tons, kegs and kegs, and a whole lot of volume of foamy, fizzy, beer. Oh sure, the drink is fine. Anyone who dares contradict this fact is ending up for some tee-peeing and getting labeled as a party pooper. But back to the story. Where there is beer, there is sure to end up a lot of peeing.

And it is not limited to just boys. It also happens to girls. You know, the whole story of stick out the gun, and watering the lawn with a golden shower. Absolutely tasteless, but it happens. And not only that. You spit, you snort, you even poo. Wow, talk about humanity.

Suck it up, go to the nearest mosh potty place and dump your bodily luggage there. And be good about it. Don't slobber it up like a pig, and don't aim anywhere else except in front of you. Everyone knows the world could do with one less dirty an outhouse.

Tips on how to prepare for your family vacation - what to pack in order to survive travelling with your kids.

By Jennifer Hess

A vacation is a time for laughter and relaxation for the whole family. It is a great opportunity to forget about your work and the kids school activities, and just concentrate on being with your kids.

Make sure that each child has their own backpack where they will put their fun items like toy cars, barbie dolls and snacks. Its a good idea to have luggage with wheels that can be rolled so they can carry it easily. Assist the older kids in packing so that they will pack things that are important and will be used during your vacation. The best way to maximize the space of your backpack is to roll the clothes tightly. Put the light clothes first, and then the heavy ones. It will make your bag feel lighter.

When choosing which clothes to bring, consider the weather conditions. If you are going to a hot place, be sure to bring in your sunglasses, sun hats and some sun protection lotion. Make sure the clothes you bring are comfortable to wear and easy to put on and take off. Don't forget to bring a jacket and a pair of long pants for each member during cold weather.

Make sure to pack interesting games for the children in order to keep them busy. Long trips can be boring and games with lots of interaction between family members can make them fun. Bring special toys for the younger ones. You might want to buy a few new items since new toys are always more interesting.

Packing some cookies and tetra pack drinks is good idea for long trips. If you have a baby or toddler, bring some diapers along. It is cheaper than buying on the road and you will be better prepared in case you need them. If you are into saving money - bring your own food rather than buying it on the way.

Always have a first aid kit and a flashlight with you when you are traveling. Bring extra batteries for the flashlight too. If a member of the family is taking daily medications, put these in a separate container. Don't forget to bring baby wipes for cleaning hands, faces and messes.

Make sure your camera is prepared and your batteries are charged. Consider buying a water proof camera if you will be going swimming. With pictures, you will be able to remember all the precious moments, including those that took place in the water.

Check your obligations and bills' due dates to avoid overdue payments. Don't rush but rather plan ahead before the day of vacation. And most important - don't forget to bring some cash. A well planned vacation will be a great time for the whole family.

Cigar Tasting- Oliva Cigars

By Mara Hernandez-Capili

Cigars are status symbols. We often see cigars in Italian and Spanish gang films being puffed by Dons and rich gang lords. A cigar is also a contemporary of a more inexpensive and common/ commercialized cigarette. Cigars are generally handmade (at least most better tasting and more expensive examples are). They are created by fermenting tobacco leaves until it reached the desired stage.

Cigars grow extensively in places such as: Brazil, Philippines, Mexico and Cuba. Cigar manufacturing has an interesting history anecdote to tell. During the past, cigar manufacturer owners employ the services of a lector or a reader to entertain workers as they work. The definition for cigar basically states that it is a a rolled bundle of tobacco leaves which is ignited when smoked. Fermented tobaccos are used in cigar manufacturing. Nowadays, modern forms of entertainment are now used such as built in piped music or audio books. This will help cigar workers work on a good mood.

Cigar wrappers are manufactured by extra care as they tend to carry the image of the cigar itself. Some cigar wrappers are tended with polishers so as to give it a beautiful glossy effect. cigar leaves are derived from the widest leaf of the tobacco plant. As opposed to famous beliefs the cigar wrapper is a leaf not a paper wrapper. It is used to describe the overall flavor and aroma of the cigar and its overall look based on its color.

Fillers are what you call the rolled up tobacco leaves that composed of the inside of the tobacco. They sometimes contain the same leaf from a tobacco tree although some manufacturers create blends from other tobacco leaves. There are numerous tobacco species whose leaves can be used to create tobacco.

Contrary to previous beliefs, cigars are really not safer alternatives to cigarettes. They just differ from the type of sickness you can achieve. Cigarettes usually causes lung cancer while cigars target the head and neck.

A cigar tasting is treated in the same manner as wine and cheese tasting- a social event in some places. Visit the Cigar Tasting (featuring Oliva Cigars) in Fairfield, Ohio for more details.

Oil Painters of America: An Annual Show in Santa Fe

By Mara Hernandez-Capili

Painting makes me relax and the activity takes away all of the stress that I experience during the day. As a kid I vividly remember my fondness for drawing and making artworks. This fondness I carried through during my high school years when I joined our school's Painting curriculum. I already am well-versed through using watercolors and acrylic mediums. I would like to try out Oil painting next.

Oil painting is very different from painting with watercolors. Water color is done by mixing the cake palette with water in order for the color to flow into the brush. It is water based and oftentimes thin and transparent. You have very little control of your colors in case of transparency since watercolor is generally quick to dry out. It is also hard to create an opaque color scheme with watercolor.

Acrylics can either be water based or oil based. Acrylic is harder when dry and more opaque compared with watercolor. It does not flow freely compared to watercolor. It is often used in large compositions since it much easier for the artist to mix and match colors using acrylics. Oil based acrylics tend to flow freely but can leave nasty smudges and stains on the artist's clothes.

Oil painting is generally more preferred by artists since it is more workable and produces a more vivid and striking color palette. Almost all of the artists nowadays use oil paints in their compositions, a proof of its rising popularity. Working with oil paints are relatively easier for some artists who want to produce a quality painting in a short period of time.

Come to the Oil Painters of America in Santa Fe, New Mexico and marvel at the talents of the local artists of New Mexico.

Benefits of All-Inclusive Holidays

By Pat Webber

Today's travelers are looking for more ways of saving on holidays trips owing to the current economic times that are prevalent in many parts of the world. Some are even choosing to cut down on their holiday travel preferring instead to route their money into savings. But regardless of the tough times, there are still many travelers who have an undying passion for traveling will not cut down but instead they seek innovative ways to save money. These are termed smart travelers and are very knowledgeable regarding holiday deals when it comes to their airline tickets, car rental, hotel and other vacation-related expenses. They instead prefer to pay one fee which covers the airfare, the hotel expenses, the car rental and tours. These types of travel packages have become very popular and have become known as all-inclusive holidays.

Money is not the only item that motivates bargain-hunting travelers and tour operators understand this. Time is also essential to these travelers and the process of finding a good holiday destination that makes sense is also part of shopping smart hence the popularity of all-inclusive holidays. All-inclusive holidays provide some serious advantages for the travelers and we shall examine these next.

One advantage of all-inclusive holidays is that they save the traveler time. In the past, the traveler had to contact the different airlines and try to cut a deal. Since there are very many airlines, one had to contact many of them in order to settle for the one that had the best prices. A shorter way was to deal with a travel agency. Then after securing the best airline they had to contact the hotels in the country of destination. This was also another ordeal because there was little or no information on which hotels were out there. Finally one had to figure out how to get around when they got there. That meant searching for car rentals with little or no information not to mention there was little or no way of knowing what one was signing up for or what really awaited them. All-inclusive holiday tours eliminate all that. For one super-low price, the trip organizer will organize the airline ticket, the hotel, the car rental and even the tours of the destination. All this is a tremendous time-saver.

All-inclusive holidays are also cheaper. This is because the airlines, the hotels and the car rental companies have joined hands and decided to offer these packages to customers at reduced prices. They understand that the lower the prices, the more the customers they will get and this will translate into overall profits. It therefore makes sense to get an all-inclusive holiday package rather than try to buy the package deals individually.

All-inclusive packages are also more convenient than regular travel deals. One can easily buy the deals online at popular travel websites such as Travelocity and Expedia. One need not traverse other travel agencies to find deals. Everything is located on one website and with one click and one payment can secure an all-inclusive holiday package.

Taking A Vacation In Inverness, Scotland And Some Important Facts

Inverness, often referred to as being the capital of the Scottish Highlands, was eventually granted city status in two thousand and one and at this time is the only city in the Highlands. Uniquely (in the UK) Inverness has no legal boundaries which creates problems with population statistics. The estimations are less likely to be accurate because of the fact that the city's population is increasing dramatically, Inverness has the highest growth rate in the UK. One thing we can state with some certainty is that the population of Inverness is rather happy, in 2008 the Telegraph ranked the city of Inverness fifth out of 189 cities in Britain for its quality of life. So I think we can state that Inverness is a pretty cool city in which to stay for some time and this is probably one of the reasons which make Inverness incredibly popular with tourists. Importantly there is a large number of bed and breakfasts in Inverness with most of it being available to book online.

Inverness is also referred to as the gateway to the Highlands of Scotland for the obvious fact that it is best placed to make the most of the Highland public transport system and an incredible amount of tourist attractions are relatively easy to get to. Possibly the best way to visit them is by going on an organized coach tour or day trip. A few coach companies visiting places such as, Culloden, Urquart Castle or Loch Ness or for the more hardy visitor you can to visit John O'Groats or even Orkney on a days round trip. There are also a small number of city tours, such as those run by Tony Harmsworth or City Sightseeing.

Some visitors stay in two different locations in the Highlands for example Fort William and, later, Inverness. Fort William is incredibly popular with sports men and women especially ramblers, rock climbers and hill walkers who get their thrills climbing Ben Nevis which looks down upon the town. In a similar way Fort William bed & breakfast and like most bed and breakfast accommodation in Scotland it is frequently not very expensive, good value for money and amazingly tidy, clean and comfortable with world class hospitality.

One important thing you should know is that Inverness's airport is, roughly, 7 miles from the city at Dalcross. It is possible catch a bus or hail a cab to the busy but small airport which is fairly reasonable. If you require a map of Inverness then you should get one of the free ones at the tourist office, on Castle Wynd in the town center. While you are in the city you should remember to visit Inverness Castle, Inverness Museum and Art Gallery, the 'stone of tubs' and Mercat Cross especially the Castle Garrison Encounter, an enjoyable interactive experience.

Basic Mead: Good Source of Income?

By Ian Kleine

Mead is an alcoholic beverage that is derived from a mixture of water and honey, fermented and left to develop using yeast. The content may rise from that of slightly alcoholic, to one that could knock out a heavy drinker. More often than not, it is confused with the name 'honey wine' but it is still mead. Quite really, it is still just water and honey for the more no-nonsense folks out there.

A different type of mead that has herbs and spices (common favorites are ginger, vanilla, clove, cinnamon, nutmeg, oregano and even lavender) is called metheglin. Metheglin comes from the word "meddyglyn" which roughly means 'healing liquor' suggesting to its earlier use as a type of therapeutic or immediate drug.

Nowadays, metheglin is commercialized, produced, and sold in bottles across the state, more for its taste and appeal rather than its medicinal effects (if it did have any). Spicing and the combination of amount and type is key. As of this time, there are at least a hundred different types of metheglin, a handful being popular, and some bordering on the exotic or esoteric.

Metheglin makes for good business, especially in parts of Texas who still have the appetite for this pioneer drink. It's simple, and not complicated like beer or most of the modern wines that we have. The health bit is a bonus; it's the taste that matters. After all, we've been smoking and drinking with disregard for our health. Well, metheglin may actually be good for your body. Moderation, again, is key to this however. After all, too much of a good thing would still bring illness to you.

To make metheglin, mix rational parts of water and honey, bring to a boil, and mix in your herbs or flowers/spices and yeast. Allow to ferment for a week in an airtight container. Drain out and strain for impurities and ferment once more. Let it reach at least a year for good and sweet taste that's deep, like the history of mead.

Rod Bending Carp Baits And Irresistible Fishing Ingredients!

By Tim Richardson

New baits are the key to consistently catching big carp because they will be treated with far less caution than any baits they have been hooked on previously! You might favor particle baits like peanuts or tiger nuts, or instant baits high in concentrated flavors or nutritionally stimulating baits. But whatever it is you can be sure that keeping them different to what has been used before is absolutely essential for consistent catches.

The purpose of a fishing bait is not to smell like a banana, nor be an eye-catching colour, nor shine in the dark like a beacon, or taste like a banquet. It is merely to get your hook in the fishs mouths for the split second it tasks to have the slightest chance of hooking a fish. Everything else is secondary. But many fishermen seriously cut their chances by using baits many others have caught fish on before, not realising how much harder fish on such baits unfortunately can be to catch; having been hooked on them previously! (So many overlook this top priority warning!) It should therefore make absolute sense that making your bait different to previously successful baits is a big key to consistent big fish success.

Many baits simply tantalise the fish and evoke a curiosity response rather than provide anything nutritional and many angler get confused thinking that baits absolutely must be an perfect square meal to get takes, but this is completely untrue. Any change you make to a bait can induce a curiosity response from a fish regardless of any other olfaction or other chemoreception stimulation which might be present in the bait. Carp feed using far more senses than merely taste and smell and all can be exploited for improved and prolonged more consistent results!

Many anglers love to use flavors and others steer clear of using them. But one thing for sure is that the majority of anglers are only aware of a tiny fraction of forms of flavors and flavor substances and components available to use in our baits. The concentrated solvent based flavors so commonly used to change the smell and taste characteristic of a bait are a minor part of what you can leverage for great results!

Your bait will have a smell and taste even though it may have had no flavors added. Every ingredient you put into a bait has some impact upon it and bait ingredients do not work in isolation but together synergistically and this is how they affect fish senses and fish digestion too. Fish are totally aware of all this and can even detect the components of flavors in their instinctive search for potential food that might provide essential dietary requirements or simply an energy requirement; energy is essential for all life. Intrinsic flavors and smells exist in baits long after our own human senses cannot detect them. Flavors will act differently in air compared to water and this is very significant for example in regards solubility, use through the seasons and rate of diffusion of attractors through the water to pull fish towards your bait.

In the case of big carp, they can be caught on baits containing strong powerful flavors or minimal amounts or none at all. The angling fishing pressure they receive 24 hours a day will often influence which approaches and which forms of flavor are more stimulatory or more repellant! But even using rubber and plastic baits will eventually be associated with previous captures and be less effective for this reason.

When anglers think of carp baits most will immediately picture round boilies. These have succeeded for decades, but its is noticeable that round and now barrel shaped baits are being easily dealt with by wary carp and other new alternative shapes should be exploited! In the case of rubber and plastic baits, their many characteristics and lack of these too compared to conventional carp baits really gives them edges, but even these are not totally devoid of anything carp can associate with danger.

Food ultimately comes down to the supply of energy and its efficient use in our bodies and fish are just the same. Any aspect of bait which can provide more efficient use of energy, or at least appear to can be fantastic to use in baits and many are waiting to be discovered and exploited. As big fish have a greater energy requirement it stands to reason that these respond to such substances rather well. If you consider that oils, betaine and even amino acids have a tendency to promote growth and have significant relevance in the use or supply of energy, it is not a surprise they are potent fish feeding triggers!

The natural foods which carp have survived and evolved to exploit in their natural environments have had more than just impacted upon the senses which detect these foods. Even the carp body itself has evolved physically in order to best detect, consume, digest and extract the maximum essential nutrition and energy it needs for survival. Betaine is found in many natural foods from root crops like sugar beet to molluscs and crustacean and fish themselves and even we humans contain betaine and it is a real essential!

Not surprisingly carp are highly stimulated by betaine as it has essential parts to play within its body and its feed triggering effects upon carp sensory mechanisms are is well recommended; especially with amino acids in your baits! The needs of carp for betaine are so high that it beats the intensity of feeding response to a range of well known stimulatory amino acids, the essential building blocks of proteins for growth for example. In fact betaine plays a great role in the formation of digestive juices especially for the digestion of proteins; human and carp digestion and enzymes are significantly similar in very many ways which we can exploit in our baits!

From the active enzymes in hemp seeds, peptides in milk powder ingredients, theobromine and polyphenols in coco, sugars, flavonoids, ketones, acids, esters and enzymes etc in real fruit juices, even salts and acids in mature cheese; these are all potent feeding triggers and attractors. Next time look at the ingredients list of a readymade meal and count how many stimulate you and how and might be fish attractors and feeding triggers to exploit in your baits. These ingredients are often included for powerful bioactive and habit-forming reasons to get you and your body to crave for more... Whether your first priority is the fishing, hunting camping or just pursuing hobbies outdoors for recreation and sport, your bait will make all the difference; so the more you know the better your results will be for life!

Getting Through the Financial Crisis with Craft Fairs

By Rick Amorey

Life is so hard these days. Because of the recession, may people suddenly find themselves jobless and without a source of income. And it's not because they lack the skills to, but simply because companies are hit hard and need to cut costs. If you lose your job, tough luck, but it also means that you now suddenly have all the time in the world.

So what do you do with all the new time that has been allotted to you? Understandably, many of you will use it by spending more time with your family. A number of you will spend most of their time and energy towards finding new employment. But let's be realistic, shall we? Until we get away from the eye of the storm that is the recession, finding new employment will be very difficult.

Why don't we set up small businesses instead? In all likelihood, it will be incomparable to the salary you used to have. But it's something, at the very least. The cost of living will still continue to come, but it must be buffered somehow.

Take me, for example, I have decided to go back to a hobby that I had as a teenager. I used to make wonderful wood carvings, but decided to stop when I started out life as an adult. There were more important things to do, after all. But now, I have returned to my hobby, and have decided to earn some extra income by selling them at craft shows.

It has never been easier to look for craft shows to sell my wares than in this Internet age. There are a lot of listings for upcoming events online. Finding the next show's schedules and venues is just a simple matter of searching for them using a browser. It doesn't give me much income, yes, but at least the money still trickles through even with the financial crisis.

Misinterpreting Cajun

By Ian Kleine

There are several notions that are proven to be false for the real authentic Cajun style cooking. These notions often prove enough to dissuade the adventurous eater from trying out Cajun style cooking. Often it becomes flame material, and is the starting ignition point for Cajun and creole lovers. But is there really a difference and distinction for Cajun against Creole cooking, and general cooking styles in the whole matter?

The rules are according to wiki, Cajun food is not fancy. Cajun food is not extremely hot from pepper. Cajun cooking does not use wine as part of the cooking. Cajun does not require expensive or exotic ingredients. Cajun is NOT available from a box (or in a box). Cajun dishes are often simple and brown. Cajun dishes do not contain any form of cream or pasta as an ingredient. Cajun is rarely seen in restaurant menus. Cajun cooking does not frequently incorporate blackened meat in its dishes. And Cajun cooking can be successfully done outside the area of Cajun Country.

The reason for this misconception is probably the dishes outside of Louisiana have a reputation for being hotter and spicier than the original Cajun dishes. That and most foods often receive the spice treatment outside of their hometowns. If you can't bear it, spice it up is what they would say.

Outside the realm of southern Louisiana, foods in Cajun-style ingredients and seasonings are called Cajun, even those that actually do not live up to the criteria of Cajun cooking. Oftentimes, any dish that uses cayenne paper is misquoted as that of 'Cajun cooking'. Which it is not.

Often times do Cajun cuisine is seriously confused with Creole cuisine (sparking conflicts between chefs of the two different disciplines). Creole's qualities are French-inspired, on some level 'hip', cosmopolitan and certainly urban. Cajun is purely French influenced, with common

Beantown Mini-Camp

By Mara Hernandez-Capili

I used to remember that as a child I always look forward to summer season. Why? Well for the reason that summers are one heck of a season where I get to go to camp again. It is good that my parents see to it that they send me to Summer Camp almost every year in order to garner new friends, increase my social skills and expand my territories. At Camp is the place where I met my lifetime friends and in there is also the place where I learned a lot of lessons about practicality and survival.

In this article I will write about the advantages of sending your kids at Camps just like the Beantown Mini-camp.

At summer camps, Biology and Herbology classes comes to life. Physical Education classes or PE will be taken to higher notch. Summer Camps are great places where your kids can learn stuffs hands-on. They will get to experience their lessosn which can only be discussed in classrooms before and read in books.

I vividly remember the time when we were asked to create wall murals and to let out our feelings through art as a medium. That was the breaking point whne I discovered that I have passion for the Arts. At summer camps I learned the value of friendship and camaraderie. Our modules make it possible to do so. Summer camps are also excellent venues to display creativity and showcase your talents.

At Summer camp, my friends and I also discovered our second love which is dancing. We bonded and sang to familiar tunes through the aid of our fellow campers' guitars. It is truly advisable for parents to think of sending their kids to camp over summer as there are really lots of things to learn there for them.

How to Handle a Table

By Ian Kleine

It takes more than mental preparation to stay up and handle a booth in a craft fair. There's more to it than just guarding the booth all day or looking bored about it. As much as possible, first and foremost, the one who should be guarding the booth is the owner himself. This is most recommended when you are a starter at the field of craft fairs. There's a reason why, and it will be explained later.

Firstly, if this is your first time, it is rather unwise to try and hand your position out to other people when handling a booth in the craft fair. As the owner, it is your responsibility to carry your booth. Just think of the impression people would have when they know that you, as the proprietor, is not available at the site. As the owner, it is your responsibility to promote your products and your booth.

Primp your booth up appropriately and with simple effects. Avoid being an attention grabber too much, especially if you are not sure of what you're doing (being a newb if you are one). Observe and learn from other people in the fair as well, especially those that seem to have years of experience behind them. Talk and converse, share ideas and learn from the over all experience.

Have at least someone to watch out for you too. You will have to eat and do your "businesses" sometime during the day, so have someone you trust (be it a family member or a relative) to go and stand post in your booth or table while you do your thing. Have that person also be very familiar with your product or craft in case someone comes along and asks about it while you were away.

Handling a booth will be a very different experience each time, but with each experience, you will find that the job will only get easier and easier. Take notice and you won't have to have a hard time during the craft fair.

Warren County Farmers Market

By Mara Hernandez-Capili

Farmers markets are places where I can buy cheap and safe vegetables, produce for my families' needs. They are basically organized and manned by farmers and farm owners. These persons sell their cultivated goods for much lower prices than their commercial or grocery counterparts. It is because farmers do not pay for steep rental fees or space lots at farmers markets. They basically just provide a donation to the municipality for the continuous improvement of the community. I personally love going to Farmers Market.

The Warren County Farmers Market normally opens every Saturday morning from 7am and closes at 12noon. This is the best time to shop as the goods are freshly picked. Some of the farmers market goods include vegetables, fruits, preserves, jams, pickled veggies, handcrafted/ handmade items, honey jars and crafts.

Entertainment such as live band, song and dance performances and sometimes piped in music are normally provided at the Warren County Farmers Market to further enrich the experience.

I personally love going to Farmers Market with my little princess, Maiah in tow. As much as possible I want her to eat healthy and nutritious food and at Farmers Market I am convinced that every good is fresh and new. I also love to shop there because of the considerably lower price compared to grocery stores. At our local Farmers market I get to befriend our local farmers and able to get huge discounts.

Farmers Market produces are 100% free from harmful fertilizers and chemicals/ preservatives that could ruin your body when eaten. Go to the nearest Farmers market near you and start eating safe and healthy food! Why not opt to do your grocery shopping from now on at Farmers market, so you could save a lot of cash and be assured that you are eating healthy food?

Spending Time In Liverpool And Some Important Facts To Know

By Terry Monkton

Liverpool, once the British Empire's second city, has, since WOrld War II been in decline. In recent years there has been a remarkable increase in investment with the centre of the city undergoing regeneration. In 2008 Liverpool was the European Capital of Culture throughout the full twelve months there were numerous events ranging from music concerts by world renowned musicians and singers to exciting exhibitions of art. No longer the European Capital of Culture what is there to bring in tourists to this exciting city? Well there are definetely a number of new Liverpool hotels catering for all tastes. In the following article I take a close look at three visitor attractions in Liverpool.

Tate Liverpool

Found on the Liverpool's waterfromt, as part of the Albert Dock complex, is Tate Liverpool. Since opening in 1988, the Tate, for a short time, was the largest gallery of contemporary and modern art in the United Kingdom, outside London. The Tate is an extremely popular visitor attraction in Liverpool, with in excess of 600,000 visitors through its' doors every 12 months. The gallery is in one of the 5 converted warehouses orignally converted by James Stirling. However, the building had to undergo further refurbishment in1988 to create more gallery space. In 2007 the foyer was redesigned, giving the gallery a more modern appearance and better proportions in the reception area.

Albert Dock

Liverpool's Albert Dock was named after Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg, who opened the docks in 1846. The docks were very busy over the years,, but eventually had to close to shipping in 1972. For many years the docks lay derelict and quiet, until the 1980's when they were redeveloped with funding from the Merseyside Development Corporation. The dock consisted of five warehouse buildings, all of which are Grade I listed, making the Albert Dock complex the largest set of Grade I listed building in the United Kingdom. The docks are now home to a variety of attractions, including the Merseyside Maritime Museum and the Tate Liverpool.

Liverpool Anglican Cathedral

Liverpool is renowned for having two cathedrals: the Liverpool Anglican Cathedral and the Roman Catholic Metropolitan Cathedral. When John Charles Rye was nominated Bishop of Liverpool in 1880, ironically Liverpool did not have a cathedral at that time. Eventually, after a lot of discussion, the powers that be agreed that a cathedral was needed. In 1902, they chose to hold an open competition for the design of the cathedral. The winning proposal was chosen in 1903, and astonishingly, was a proposal by student Giles Gilbert Scott, who had no preceding building experience. Another architect, George F. Bodley, was nominated to work with Scott, and oversee all designs and construction works. King Edward VII laid the foundation stone in 1904, and in 1910, the first part of the cathedral, the Lady Chapel, was completed.

Besides the three tourist attractions discussed above Liverpool has a great many more. Besides this there are many, many more not too far away, perfect for a day visit. If you are planning to spend time in Liverpool you may wish to take a look at our web site which has a comprehensive list of Liverpool hotels and accommodation as well as a selection of unserviced and services apartments in Liverpool.

Because of their wonderful and colorful appearance, flower has been a favorite subject to both artist and photographers. They capture the beauty and life the flower brings. The Oregon Convention Craft Show

By Rick Amorey

What comprises a collection of crafts shows at the Oregon convention? The answer is: Different groups, plus some guilds, put together crafts of a whole lot of variety. You'll be able to see all sorts of pottery, handcrafted pieces of jewelry, elaborately woven cloths, glass-blown figures, carved wood, and a whole lot of other things that escape me at the moment.

We weren't alone in thinking that being a vendor here may be less than productive. Lots of people thought so as well; but everywhere you looked, transactions seemed to be going on. The craftspeople I happened to talk to all said that they expected this year's showcase to be way down because of the economic recession. But on that fateful Saturday, they were doing business that was equal to last year. Needless to say, they were pretty happy.

I'm not exactly a fan of shopping, so under normal circumstances, going around the booths should not be an attractive proposition for me. This is why it's interesting to note that I am a regular of this event for the past ten years. It probably has something to do with my growing appreciation for the crafts; there is something about the way raw materials takes shape under an artist or artisan's hands that I like.

There are plenty of rooms of beautiful crafts that are both simple and complicated. I find myself going towards particular items - bowls, glass platters, and some interesting earrings for Mother's Day - all of them are weighted out in my mind. It astounds me as to how the craftspeople put in a balance between the material and creativity. Of course, I wonder how these objects will look at home, too.

Yet another reason why I like this event is the fact that I like the prices. Some of them would seem downright cheap to what you'd find in more permanent shops. As I've said before, I am not an avid shopaholic and would not be the best judge for such things. Even so, I like the idea of spending my money this way.

Cross Country Moving Quotes- 5 Trailing Away Tips

By Lutis Pescatiz

Picking up to move cross country can be a very daunting experience. Having to trust a long distance moving company to take one's belongings across state lines and deliver them on time and in one piece is not something anyone looks forward to face.

Sometimes, moving take us hundreds of miles from our home town to new states, or even countries. A nationwide move is far more complex than a local move because of its inherent logistics that need to be executed.

Cross country relocations are harder for families because of the sense of lack of support. You'll often find that your phone bill increases and that you'll have more problems adjusting if you're moving away from family support.

You could find having to go through a little bit of adjustment if you move back to your home town. Relocating near by a family member whether be the husband's or the wife's could results in a great deal of help or perhaps interference - depending on how you look at it. When everything else is said and done, you could arrive at the conclusion that it was all done for the greater good.

A cross country move needs to be scheduled with ample time to give you the room to plan accordingly. In simple terms, a four hundred mile relocation could cost you the same doing it yourself as opposed to hiring a mover. A cross country move might not be all that attractive to drive it yourself. It may be easier just to hire a long distance mover to help you with the loading, transporting of your stuff, and finally unloading the trailer at your new place.

Keep in mind that your state to state move will mean a different district for your children's schooling. Making your long distance move could open up new doors professionally, but you would have to be willing to let go of old habits to allow new settings to take roots.

These are very important tips to keep in mind

1. How Involved Do You Want Moving Companies In Your Out Of State Move?

Now you can hire national moving companies that offer "complete packages" which are designed to allow people to relocate without lifting a finger themselves. These companies do it all - from finding a suitable house within your price range and requirements, to packing you and moving you in, some even unpack at the other end for you.

2. Pick Out Various Moving Companies To Hire.

Talk to previous customers about their experiences. Did the national moving company staff conduct themselves professionally?

Another resource is to Google various long distance movers and search for any customer feedback. You could be surprised as to what you can learn from the experience of other consumers.

3. Inquire Moving Quotes.

Request the nationwide moving company to give you your best friend in the market - cross country moving quotes about their moving services. Consider using about 3-5 long distance moving estimates prior to hiring any long distance mover. When you are moving from one state to another, be sure to do cost research up front to avoid being overcharged.

4. Request That Moving Estimates Be Based On Movers Personally Review Your Stuff.

Be sure when reviewing a mover, that the review should be at no cost to you and that the long distance moving quotes are as faithful as possible. All out of state moving companies are insured to protect you, your things, and themselves in case of something awful should happen and you should take the time to look at the information so there will be no surprises.

5. List Every Possible Expense To Move Cross Country.

Include every conceivable reason as to why you would not take up possessions of your move and the cost associated for not taking your property back. For instance, there is a strong possibility that your cargo will be taken to the moving company's warehouse and you'll be expected to pay for storage and moving your belongings back from the warehouse to your home - imagine the new additional expenses you could incur - definitely you do want to avoid that chance.

Take your time to understand every thing on your moving contract even the smallest items. Upon signing your long distance moving contract, make sure all hidden expenses are made aware to you by your chosen moving company.
