Building An Authoritative Travel Blog

Authoritative blogs seem all the rage at the moment but what exactly is an " Authoritative Travel Blog ?" Well my understanding of the matter is it is a blog that is not only very informative to the readers but that the information comes from authoritative type people in connection with what they are writing about.

Hopefully my articles below will give an insight on travel and travel related experiences from all over the world from many authoritative writers as they have been there and done that.

Articles will be and are published often and this means current travel experiences and up to date places to visit. If you have also visited these places or wish to comment then please do so remembering this blog is intended to family orientated visitors so please be respectful.

I have seen many fears raised through my article site and feel that any traveller today that, for one reason or another, decides against travel insurance then they are possibly being a little short sighted. We do not want our boats to sink but are happy to carry life rafts. travel insurance is a similar idea. We do not wish to ever claim on it but if things go wrong as they sometimes do it is a benifit to have the insurance.

Five Fun Things All Visitors Must Do While Visiting San Diego

By Terry Hunefeld

1. Spend your vacation in the heart of San Diego at a one of the may quality hotels in Old Town. Take the time to explore the many historic sites and shop in a variety of stores that can only be found in Old Town. They all offer different types of unique and delicious items just waiting for you to discover! You may wander through historic buildings (a blacksmith shop, historic stables and the oldest schoolhouse in San Diego). At the Southern entrance to Old Town, overlooking San Diego Avenue from the second floor, is El Agave Restaurant and Tequileria. As you enter from a curved staircase with Mexican tile and cactus plants you have a sense of Old Mexico. A short walkway past wonderful, balcony seating and you arrive at the dark but inviting doorway and inside you will find an array of tequila like you won't find anywhere else -1,700 bottles of tequila, some over 100 years old.

2. Visit the Cave Store at La Jolla. What would you expect to find in a "cave store", maybe some fossils or seashells? There's more. They have a hole in the floor of the store that leads down to the only sea cave in California you can enter by land via 40 stairs into the earth - the wonderful and spooky Sunny Jim Cave. The smells, the sounds, the feel! Walls of the tunnel have water trickling and you go down...down...until you walk out a small wooden dock into the cave with the ocean crashing on the rocks below and gulls nesting in tucked away places above.

3. On your next trip to San Diego you can be assured of two things: the weather will be amazing and you'll discover lots to do at Seaport Village. Here you can explore 50-plus diverse shops, 17 unique eateries and outdoor entertainment and find everything under the sun. Hungry? Most any craving can be satisfied here. Dine at any of four restaurants or nibble, snack or chow down at more than a dozen smaller eateries. Surf and turf to burgers and pizza. Ice cream, cookies, popcorn. Whatever. Thirst's covered too-sodas, milkshakes, lemonade, beer, wine, cocktails and, well, too many drinks. One last decision to make: a table inside or out on the deck with a view of the bay?

4. Spend a cool, relaxing day at the enormous (4,000 plus acres!) Mission Bay Park surrounding Mission Bay. Many families pack the car and spend the day here. They bring bikes, scooters, camping chairs and foldable picnic tables. On the way to the park be sure to pick up a bunch of take-out food... (we recommend Rubio's or Filberto's) and pack a cooler full of drinks and extra snacks. Bring the badminton set and books, crosswords and Sudoku puzzles. It's a great place to relax or bike or walk along the sidewalks. Just find a nice spot under one of the many trees and either catch some sun or fall asleep in the shade. On warm days you get a cool breeze from the bay and the ocean. Oh, and you can bring your dog too. This is America's Finest City, get outside and enjoy it!

5. Grab your beach towel and Coppertone and get to one of dozens of San Diego beaches (they are all free) and swim, jog, boogie-board, read a spy novel, watch world-class surfers or just bake in the sun. Alcohol is prohibited on all San Diego beaches. Both South Mission Beach and Ocean Beach are hotspots for beach volleyball. Ocean Beach has six courts, and South Mission Beach has 15 courts.

Background Of The Inflatable Boat

By Wyatt Crouch

Ever wonder where the first Inflatable Boats were made? Imagine making an Inflatable Boat from animal pelts and making them air tight then blowing them up by mouth. Yes, it is true. There are ancient images on cave dwellings depicting these one man inflatable watercrafts long before the days of compressors. These depictions were sometimes mistaken for scuba diving gear when in reality, they were the origin of the Inflatable Boat.

The 1st Duke of Wellington in 1939, Arthur Wellesley had tested the development of the Inflatable Pontoon Boat during his term as the Leader of the House of Lords. Then in the early 1900s due to technology advances in the manufacturing process of rubber, it was then possible to make the Inflatable Raft from rubber. Obviously during this time period, the Inflatable Boats were not mechanically propelled, so the only way to navigate these Inflatable Rafts was to paddle. Due to inherent flaws in the rubber manufacturing process the Inflatable Boats tended to split at the seams.

Later, with the tragedy of the Titanic's sinking along with the losses of life in WW! On War Ships which were sunk by enemy submarine torpedoes, there was a real need for Life Rafts in the form of Inflatables. If you were not aware, the major cost of life on the Titanic as well as many other ships of the time was the lack of Life Boats. Can you imagine going on a ship and there were twice the number of people on the ship than there were seats on the Life Boats.

The SOLAS Convention in its successive forms is generally regarded as the most important of all international treaties concerning the safety of merchant ships. The first version was adopted in 1914, the second in 1929, the third in 1948, and the fourth in 1960. The most prominent focus was to ensure that ships had sufficient lifeboats so that every person aboard the ship had access to a place on a lifeboat. [http://www.imo.org/Conventions/contents.asp?topic_id=257&doc_id=647#1]

Cargo ships did not have a difficulty in meeting the new standards at the time as they did not carry many hands on these vessels; however War Ships and Passenger Liners had a very difficult task at hand. For the Passenger Liners to accommodate this had to stack the lifeboats where ever they could in order to meet the new requirements.

The time span between the first and second world war allowed the Goodyear Company to develop a new style of rubber Inflatable Boat from 4 rubber cylinders and a rigid bottom to the boat. These Inflatables could be stacked vertically on deck of the warships which allowed them to accommodate the capacity. Conservative mentality of the time led to the un-acceptance of the Inflatable for the time which hampered the production.

A man named Pierre Debroutelle designed a new version of the Inflatable Boat in 1937. This model was the premier model with the now traditional U-Shaped inflatable tube. His design was so innovative that it was the first Inflatable Boat to be certified by the French Navy. Subsequently, a wooden transom was created and then patented in 1943. On modern Inflatable Boats, you will be able to distinguish the commonalities between the 1937 model and today's model.

World War II created a prominent need for a new version of the Inflatable Life Raft with the escalation of the number of submarine attacks against the War Ships and Merchant Ships due to the number of casualties

Now the US warships started to use rubber life rafts. And since the rubber and manufacturing processes were significantly better due to quality increases than in the prior 35 years, the Inflatable was back, bigger and better than ever before, and now it was boat-shaped.

Now is the Inflatable Boats day to shine as it is no longer only a utilitarian war and rescue watercraft, it is now an economical option with can go many places that other boats can not including the trunk of your car. Inflatables are a smart option for anyone, and if the cost of boat ownership have held you back from having a conventional boat, Inflatables are an affordable option.

Travel Tips For Successful Vacations With Children

By Sandra Mario Cuso

If you are planning a vacation with kids then each and every detail has to be perfectly planned. First step is deciding on what place to visit. Have a family discussion rather doing it alone. This will give an opportunity to meet the needs of all the family members. The place you select should be a fun to everyone. Search the net to identify the best family vacation spots like the Yellow Stone National Park. The U.S is one of the best families outing place. It is highly affordable. You can be involved in various activities like trekking; canoeing, camping and the bubbling geothermal mud spots offer great enthusiasm to children as well as adults. Select a place like this with numerous activities involved.

Next is mode of journey. If the place you are planning is near, it is best to go by drive. This will be full of fun. You can even stop and rest wherever you like. But if it is another country or too distant, consider the aspects of convenience and budget before making a decision. Do not try to be too stingy, be reasonable. Just to save a few dollars if you select an itinerary with great amount of waiting time between flights then your kids will be pissed off and become cranky especially if they are of very small age.

Major task is finding an accommodation. For example, if you have 4 kids, then you may have to book two rooms or find some connecting rooms which may not be possible at the last minute. Hence, make arrangements for accommodation months ahead. Another factor to be considered while making accommodation arrangements is the extent that the kids can enjoy at that place. If you book a room in the midst of a city, you will definitely enjoy doing all the shopping, visiting places but the kids won't. Select a place that is either near to a beach or an amusement park with a number of rides for the children to enjoy.

Some people who take long vacations with children suggest that renting a house is the best option that saves a good amount of money. While making hotel reservation know about the amenities they serve like a refrigerator may be a must for you to keep the baby bottles, if they have their own kitchen, so that it would be helpful if the kids feel hungry and if the hotel offers any dishes planned especially for children. Do not forget to check the reviews about the hospitality services of the hotel.

If you are traveling with kids have a first aid kit with you all the time, especially if your trip involves activities like trekking where the chances of injury are great. If your children have certain allergies do not forget to take care about it.

Have some ready to eat foods or fruits to meet the unexpected needs of the children. Obviously they are just kids and love to snack frequently.

Last note, plan perfectly to give your children a platform to explore themselves, have fun, learn new cultures, adventure they love to have and everything they wish to have.

Jeffrey's Bay South Africa History

By Andrew Keet

Regarding the origin of the name of the town, there are a few speculations. One is that Captain Jeffrey's sailed South Africa's east coast in the 1840s for trading purposes. When his crew members were struck by scurvy, he landed his ship on the primitive coast, now the main beach of Jeffrey's Bay. Ten years later, he bought erven 1, 2, 9 and 10 for 79, and built their home on the corner of Woltemade and Jeffrey's Streets. When the prominent Reilly family arrived in the area in 1928, they reportedly used the original timber from Captain Jeffrey's ship to build their home, even preserving the 150-year old barometer.

There were other people called Jeffrey's in that area of South Africa at that time, one been a prominent trader that based himself in the Eastern Cape in the 1850s and the other a whale hunter from St Helena, who used Jeffery's Bay as a harbour and trading post.

The land that Country Feeling is standing on today belonged to the Reilly's who build a Wimpy Bar on it during the 1960s which was demolished in 1964 to make place for a double story residential flats that included a tea garden and gift shop on the same property.

In the 1850s the best know hotel in Jeffrey's Bay history was constructed, first called the Jeffrey's Bay Hotel and in 1937 renamed The Savoy, it was demolition in 1968 along with a part of Jeffrey's Bay history.

Perhaps more important is the historical finding of the waves that have put Jeffrey's Bay on the international map of the surfing world. It is generally believed that the legendary John Whitmore, known as the father of South African surfing, discovered the waves along the coast while travelling the Garden Route on a business trip in the 1950s. He watched the world-famous waves roll onto the shore in awe. Since then, Jeffrey's has consistently performed at equally impressive levels for the surfing community and the international Billabong Pro competition.

Sightseeing Vacations : Travel To France

By Michael Mancienne

France is visited by over 82 million tourists each year, making it the hottest spot on the map. The Eiffel Tower alone attracts 6.2 million people each year. But apart from the culture and history of Paris, the country also offers beaches, fabulous countryside and skiing.

France is of course world-famous for its cuisine and so finding a fine dining experience is a simple task whether it be anything from a simple and affordable brassier or bistro to a Michelin starred restaurant. When you receive your restaurant bill, taxes and service charges will be included.

France is the home of wine and really is heaven for wine lovers who travel to France. Only the finest in quality and variety are offered, but it is important to be cautious with drinking prior to driving, as the French authorities are strict when it comes to drunk drivers. Beer is also quite popular, especially in Northern France.

The Ministry of Tourism rates every French hotel into four categories from a 1 to 4 star rating. This rating is demonstrated upon all hotel entrances on a blue crest. By law, all hotels must display their rates outside the establishment, or make them visible from outside, but don't be afraid to enter and ask for their best price.

A beneficial choice would be to book a city center hotel, as they are generally very small and quiet. Be sure to verify your parking procedures, particulary in the larger urban areas.

Bed and Breakfasts are mostly located in rural areas, and are called Chambres d'htes. They operate nightly, just like the motel-style hotels you'll find along the road.

If you plan to stay in France for an extended period of time you may want to consider renting a house, apartment, or a villa from a reputable travel website. This is also a good option if you plan to travel to France with a group of people.

Cruise Vacations For Relaxation

By Donny McKinnon

Taking cruises for vacation have a lot of advantages over just staying in one place. With a cruise you encounter an almost all inclusive vacation that offers you a comfortable cabin, delicious food all day long, entertainment, and daily activities. Your staff has your comfort in mind when they change damp towels during the day every time you leave your cabin and they turn down your bed at night.

Staterooms come in about 3 different designs. There is the inside cabin that suits the traveler who wants to shower and get going to enjoy the daily and nightly entertainment. Your comfortable bed will give you a good night's sleep. The outside cabins offer decks or windows and the ocean view will cost you more. All the other amenities remain the same.

The ship bustles with daily activities. Tango or salsa classes, trivia games, bands, and parties at the pool and art classes name just a few of the activities offered every day. You can relax at the indoor pool which is usually near the spa or you can go crazy and belly flop at the pool. Take a snooze before dinner so you can enjoy the nightly show!

There are tours on each island that can be purchased for a separate fee. There are cooking classes, horseback riding, golf, scuba diving and then the old-time "kind of free"... Shopping. Each island offers something different. Before disembarking, make sure you know what time to be back to the ship. Maybe you would like some extra time on Cozumel, but you will have to pay for your own transportation to catch up with the ship!

While the ship is in port, stay aboard if you wish. Many people disembark to visit the island. You are welcome to stay aboard, enjoy the spa or the pool, or just gaze at the port's movements and people. If your partner goes ashore for golf, get a group of girls together to enjoy lunch out on the deck.

The hours for dining are very well planned. Room service is the answer to every one's dream. There are food stations all over the ship for all-inclusive eating day and night. Breakfast is open seating in the dining room and full buffet on a different upper deck. Lunch is also open seating or buffet.

What a lovely affair dinner is. Served in the dining room by wonderful waiters who can't do enough for you. First class entrees are served graciously by well trained waiters. The whole meal is a marvelous, relaxing and indulgent two hours. Your waiter will call you by name and remember your preferences. If you are in a hurry, the buffet meals are scrumptious and waiting for you to help yourself.

Your best value for your vacation can be to book a cruise. How many nights can you be pampered?

Sock Hops, Part 2: Getting the Essentials for a Good Time

By Ocianne Lambert

In the midst of all the planning and outfits and other stuff, it's easy to forget about the essentials. There are a lot of things to think about, especially if it's your first time putting on a sock hop. We're going to help your life be easier by outlining the 'must' haves' for the perfect 50's Sock Hop.

Sock Hop Invitations: Sometimes when throwing a theme party we forget to plan for a 50's or 60's style invitation. You don't need to make it too fancy, just fun. You want your friends to know what type of party it is right from the start, and establish that perfect feeling for the night. This starts with the invite! You can make them yourself- just be sure to use the appropriate colors of the era, and include any pattern from the times. A jukebox, poodle skirt design or malt are some good starters. Remember to specifically ask your guests to dress up. You don't want them to show up in the wrong attire because they were not certain that costumes were expected.

Sock Hop Costume: Picking the perfect fifties outfit is easy for guys. Greased back hair (essential- if you've got any left), a leather jacket, converse shoes (oxfords work also), a white t-shirt (with a box of smokes rolled up in the sleeve) and of course a rolled up pair of blue jeans. Girls outfits require a little more effort and preparation. You can never go wrong with the classic poodle skirt, crinoline petticoat, oxford shoes, scarf, cinch belt, poodle top or blouse and cateye glasses. Now you're ready for some fun!

Food at a Sock Hop: Good ole' American food is a must. Anything you would find in a malt shop will do. Hamburgers, fries, shakes, malts, ice-cream (don't forget the red cherries- they make a nice touch) with tall serving glasses. If you are having servers, try and have them wear roller skates to really get that fifties and sixties feel.

Sock Hop Music: Nothing will make you feel that you've gone back in time like the right music. Stick with the classics like; Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, The Beach Boys, The Beatles, Little Richard and Chuck Berry. You can find their music online, or try your local library- you can often find a wide selection of music there. To mix it up a bit, you may want to consider some modern remakes of older classics.

Sock Hop Decorations: You can really start to have fun with this one. Most people try and make the party look like a malt shop or high school. Posters of cars or celebrities (check out eBay) are also very popular. Stick with the classic colors of the age: bright pink, chartreuse and seafoam green are sure winners. Ask around, you'll be suprised how many of your friends and neighbors may have a piece or two of vintage 50's-60's merchandise, records or posters.

Sock Hop Extras: Prizes will add a lot of extra fun. Have a dance-off, Grease style, where judges walk around and tap people on the shoulder to eliminate them. Give the winner a small or silly prize and have them teach everyone else a few steps. You'll be suprised how much fun it can be. Follow it up with a costume party and impressions contest. Falkland Islands Are a Unique And Beautiful Place To Take Your Vacation

By Susan Candyce Jaquelyn PhD

Summer is in and the sun is shining with all its glory. Everyone is getting in the vacation mood and so am I. I am planning to take my family out on a vacation that they would remember for a long time. But I am the kind of a person who looks into the various details of a holiday plan before I choose the destination. Questions like how to reach the place and how long I plan to stay must be answered before I proceed any further. Being a frequent traveler, I have explored several locations round the world though South Africa still remains a virgin territory as far as I am concerned. People have admired this country and today it is undoubtedly one of the favorites for holiday makers. This time I plan to visit this verdant land for the first time.

Needless to mention, my trip to South Africa would obviously include a visit to the Falkland Islands about which I have heard so much. Divided into two separate islands " the East Falkland Island and the West Falkland Island, there is a cluster of other smaller islands which add more value to this Island as a holiday destination. The Island seems especially attractive to me, because of its meager population " only 3000! This would give me ample opportunity to spend my leisure days in peace and quietude away from the usual city noise that I am used to back home.

I am a meticulous travel planner and I must have all details pertaining to weather conditions, travel requirements, etc before I move out of the house. I now know that Stanley is a port city is the capital of Falkland Islands, which is again part of UK overseas territory and associated with the EU.

The weather condition of this magnificent island is cool and windy. Chances of snowing loom large but not so during January and February. Being an avid lover of nature, the multitude of bird species that I expect to see in these Islands is going to make my holiday memorable. In fact the startling varieties of marine life and birds have enthralled millions of tourists and continue to draw more to these Islands.

The question still remains how to reach the Falklands Islands safely and in the most convenient way? My research skills have revealed that there are plenty of airlines as well as luxury cruises taking people there. After weighing the various options of getting there, I have selected a flight with Falkland Islands Travel. Of course I do not have to worry about finding a travel agent who can organize the trip for me, as there are plenty of them around. The items needed to visit the Falkland Islands include a visa to enter the Islands, passport and other travel related documents. Now that I have made all the necessary preparations, I am humming that John Denver song: I am leaving on a jet plane, dont know if Ill be back again! Falkland Islands " here we come!

Chile, The Perfect Gay Travel Place

By Howie Holben

Chile is a unique gay travel destination that allows visitors to ski the Andes, explore volcanoes, relax on pristine beaches, and hit the clubs in Santiagos gay district all in one day. The vast and varied landscape and landmarks of Chile include arid deserts, the Torres del Paine National Park in Patagonia, the statues of Easter Island, the Elqui Valley of La Serena (long rumored to be associated with extraterrestrial activity), the Mirador de Chepu Penguin Colony, and old-world churches and architecture throughout the country.

The uniqueness of Chiles natural, cultural and historic attractions provide the opportunity to plan a variety of gay vacations including adventurous excursions trekking through breathtaking Patagonian landscapes and exploring ancient island cultures, ski or snowboard trips to world-famous Andes ski resorts like Valle Nevado, pilgrimages to visit churches and experience the deeply entrenched Catholic influences throughout the country, family beach vacations in Vina del Mar, wine-tasting tours, or trips centered around the bustling nightlife and rich culture and history of Chiles capital, Santiago.

While Chile will certainly not soon be mistaken for a bastion of gay rights, the macho Chilean culture that is deeply influenced by the military and Catholicism is slowly becoming more welcoming to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. The center of gay culture in Chile lies in Santiago, where folks on a Chilean gay vacation will find the most acceptance and the highest concentration of gay-owned and gay-friendly establishments. The Barrio Bellavista, a trendy neighborhood with quaint cafs, shops, eateries and clubs is home to the majority of Santiagos gay clubs, bathhouses and hangouts. While you will not see rainbow flags hanging from balconies or couples holding hands walking down the street, you will see gay magazines displayed in newsstands and couples enjoying espresso at cosmopolitan sidewalk cafs.

A night on the town in Bellavista often begins around 9 or 10pm with dinner at a gay-owned restaurant, such as Capricho, followed by drinks or dancing at one of several gay bars or gay clubs, which can easily go into the early morning hours. Gay travelers have a selection of gay clubs to choose from that range from the typical fare you would find in most urban areas to more risqu options complete with live sex shows. Santiago also has several bathhouses for those who are so inclined, including one slightly upscale option with a clientele made up primarily of professionals. Do keep in mind that playing safe is as important in Chile as it is in the United States.

Santiago is conveniently situated in central Chile, making it an exceptional choice as a home base for your gay vacation, allowing you to more fully explore all that Chile offers. Add to this the more welcoming atmosphere found in this city and it is easy to see why Santiago is a common choice for gay vacations. Working with a travel agency that regularly organizes gay travel to Chile is the best way to ensure that you and your partner, your family or your friends has a fun-filled, safe gay vacation to Chile.

If you are truly looking for the ideal place to kick back and really enjoy yourself it is time that you investigate taking a Barbados Holiday.

If you are thinking of doing a little Barbados travel you may want to get a little background information on the island so you know what to expect. Barbados is a beautiful coral island that came about through volcanic activity in the sea. You will find a number of wonderful beaches as well as gullies and deep ridges decorated with an eclectic variety of fauna and flora. Barbados also has its share of rolling hills and underground caves and lakes. The plethora of underground lakes helps to keep Barbados supplied with very pure drinking water.

Many may not realize that Barbados actually started out as two completely separate land masses that merged together over the years. Yes, Barbados is truly one of the unique gems of the Caribbean and that is why it remains a top tourist destination for so many scores of tourists every year. But, a holiday on Barbados is much more than just one of beaches, hills, and ridges. It is also known for its excellent diving along its west coast. The coral reef fringes of the region also add greatly to the joy of such a diving experience.

A holiday in Barbados can also come with a lot of entertaining nights filled with art, music, and other festivities. It is no overstatement to say you will find some truly amazing restaurants and dining when you engage in your Barbados travel. However, the most stunning thing you will find in Barbados is not the dining, lush land, or coral reefs. No, the most amazing aspect of Barbados is its people as they are among the friendliest and most accommodating people on the earth.

When a local of the island smiles at you, you can rest assured that it is a sincere smile. It is a smile that comes from the heart and lets you know the locals truly do appreciate your visit to the region. Venturing on a Barbados holiday will truly make you feel as if you have found a new home. This can be a very open and exciting vacation since you are free to take part in many different and fun activities while on your Barbados holiday.

The splendor of the natural lushness is not the only thing to enjoy on your Barbados holiday. While on the island, you can take part in golfing, diving, or any one of a number of other active, fun adventures to take part in during your Barbados travel.

If golf is what you are looking for, then you will be pleased to know that Barbados offers some of the highest quality golf courses in the world, recently hosting the World Golf Championship. The main course in Barbados was designed by world famous designer who made sure that not only was the course spectacular to play on but it was also difficult, designed to challenge even the most avid golfer. Prices are reasonable considering the fact that you are in the Caribbean and not the Midwest United States somewhere.

Travelers that have a love for the natural splendor of the world have the opportunity to take in a great deal of nature on their Barbados holiday. Planning a trip to the Botanical gardens or the local caves can be quite enjoyable. The Andromeda Botanical gardens is home to some of the most incredible plants and flowers found anywhere in the world. Those looking for inspiration for their own home or backyard may become very inspired by the water features known to be found here.

The caves here are also known for presenting an exciting journey. Most people on a Barbados holiday will explore the caves located along the coast. The Harrison caves are the most popular of all the caves. The Harrison caves are a series of underground caves that present a wonderful day trip for you and your travel companions. And, while you are definitely free to tour the caves on your own, it is recommended that if you spend the day in the caves, joining an organized tour would probably be the wisest.

Barbados is the true gem of the Caribbean. The island of Barbados represents a paradise that can be the basis for one of the most exciting vacations you ever take part in. No matter what you wish to do on land or sea, you can find it here. This is an excellent vacation resort that is perfect for those looking to enjoy a great deal of fun in the Caribbean sun.

Get Over To Outer Banks At Your Earliest Chance

By Deb Schwabe

The state of North Carolina is blessed with some of the United States' most incredible scenery. Not least of this is the Outer Banks which is a long stretch of barrier islands. It effectively protects the coast of North Carolina to a certain extent.

There is a feeling as if time has stood still in these islands. The fact that they are located right next to the bustling coast of the world's most powerful country is all but forgotten when you visit these islands. You will feel as if you have somehow wandered through time to find a place that is definitely more restful than what we are used to these days.

The Outer Banks offer a great destination for any holiday makers, whether you are looking to take the family on vacation or get away with a special someone. The islands offer a host of choices when it comes to deciding what to do with your time.

One of the best known features of the Outer Banks islands are their light houses. There are five main ones to choose from although there are also some lovely smaller examples of this invaluable service to sailors. There are some tour operators that focus only on these light houses so if you want to get really in depth knowledge of the manner in which they work, their history and who owns them now, it would be a good idea to try them out. These light houses are one of the main reminders that things from the past can be just as good as more advanced technology.

For those who are interested in more of an active holiday, there are loads of things to choose from. One can enjoy angling, for which these islands are very well known. It is also possible to charter a boat and take an angling trip throughout the chain of islands. Water sports such as jet skiing, surfing and others are also available.

There is also a great degree of variety for land based activities and for those with an arts streak, these islands offer some lovely diversions. There are regular summer concerts which feature symphony orchestras and great bands. Those that enjoy viewing and collecting are will be impressed by the sheer number of art galleries available to them. The variety in terms of the art itself is also fantastic. Some people view cooking as a form of art as well and they will not be disappointed to hear of the fact that there are also cookery classes on offer.

Visitors will be spoilt for choice when it comes to deciding on what to do with one's holidays. The above mentioned are only but a few of those available. The Outer Banks will provide the ideal destination for a summer holiday and the fact that one is relatively close to home means that the expense will be a lot less as well.

Africa Etosha

By Andrew Keet

A direct translation of the word Etosha into the English language means Great White Place, a fitting description of the vast ancient white, salt pans in the Kalahari Basin of southern Africa. The floor of this huge basin is made up of dry, dusty clay and salt and seldom sees water and then for only brief periods of time and has been dated at more than a billion years old.

A large variety of African wildlife inhabit the Etosha and is home to large numbers of zebra, rhino (black and white), cheetah, leopard, caracal, elephant, kudu, wildebeest and giraffe, amongst many, many others. This ancient remnant of Africa is inhabited by almost 400 bird species with the endangered blue crane been counted in amongst them.

Salt pans of this size are rare in the world and one of the places a person can view and experience one of them is at the Etosha National Park in Namibia, Africa, which covers an impressive 22 000 square kilometres. Most tour packages offered by the tourism industry of Namibia offer packages that include a visit to this awe inspiring natural wonderland.

Etosha is bordered by fantastic perennial springs that are frequented by an abundant variety of wildlife including an impressive array of birds. This area of Africa is best visited during the cooler winter months between May and September as summers can be oppressively hot. The watering holes in the Etosha National Park are lit during the evenings and early mornings as to give the discreet onlookers a better view of the wildlife that visit them.

The tourist facilities at the National Park are excellent and include three camps, a restaurant, a shop, a swimming pool, and many more comfortable conveniences. Recently, a luxury lodge has also been opened right inside the park for visitors seeking an even more elegant safari experience.

Looking For And Finding Disneyland Discount Tickets

By Ethan Timmerton

When most people are asked about their favorite destination vacation, they will say they would like to go to Disneyland. There is something special about being able to be taken back to your childhood with Disney cartoon characters all around you. It excites even adults and makes them want to step inside Disneyland and see the character firsthand.

The problem is that the Disneyland dream remains only dream for lots of people. The reason is that although we love the idea of going there, ticket prices have become more and more expensive as the years go by. It is very hard for most people to afford it.

If you browse the internet, you may have read that it is possible to get Disneyland discount tickets. Sounds exciting? However, you must know at this early point in time, finding Disneyland discount tickets may not be as simple as you may think. This is for the reason that Disney itself may not give discounts but there are companies that may just give assistance on that topic.

One of the things that you can do to get Disneyland discount tickets is to reach them this year, which is 2009, and tell them that it's your birthday. They will simply ask for several identifications plus documents that will prove that it is really your birthday. Once you are able to prove this, then you are eligible for a free ticket. Not just a discounted one but for free. What a perfect birthday gift, right?

Buying online may also give you a Disneyland ticket at a lower price. You might be charge more if you are going to purchase the tickets on the gates. Another option is for you to buy your tickets at an earlier time through the internet.

The last option that you can do is to look for travel agencies that may be offering Disneyland discount tickets. This could be a sort of a promotional package deal for their travel offering. You can search these companies online but you should also know that there are only a few of them as Disney is limiting the discount tickets that they are distributing to these companies. With diligent searching and a little luck, it is certain that you will find a discounted ticket.

Getting Disneyland discount tickets may not be as easy as it could be since you are required to do a lot of research online. But just think of the reward and happiness that you can get once you get a hold of this ticket. This is one childhood dream that will come true through thorough searching.

By Nancy Bobby

If you have ever driven through the Walt Disney World resort property, you are certainly familiar with some of the well-known landmarks. Cinderella's Castle at the Magic Kingdom, Spaceship Earth (the "golf ball") at Epcot, and Hollywood Studio's Tower of Terror all are readily recognizable by the millions of Disney vacationers each year. Yet there are two more Disney landmarks that you can't miss when visiting Disney World and yet they may very well be the "hidden gems" of Walt Disney World: The Walt Disney Swan and Dolphin resort hotels.

Bihar is a northern state of India. The state of Bihar lies south of Nepal and with West Bengal in the west and Uttar Pradesh in the east. It is the Hindi heartland of India. It is here that Buddha gave his first sermons and obtained enlightenment.

The capital of Bihar is Patna. The city of Patna lies on the junction of 3 major rivers of which one is the river Ganges. Lord Buddha once said that this city Patna, then called Patliputra will face 3 major issues.

They were to constitue fire, political agitation and flood. Indeed in recent times, the province of Bihar and also the city of Patna has been under ceaseless terror from fire, flooding from the 3 major rivers and it's a governmental hotbed.

The Bihar state of Bihar in India was called Magadha in the olden days. One of its first important rulers was called Ashoka the Great. It is said that the spread of Buddhism to Ceylon and the rest of the Far East is due to this ruler.

He sent his sons as missionaries to spread the word of Lord Buddha. The kingdom of this ruler spread from eastern India to the borders of Persia. It has been documented that he did not invade Persia because he was married to the daughter of the king of Persia.

For the pupil of olden history and followers of Buddhism, a trip to Bihar is essential. The old township of Bodh Gaya in Bihar homes the most sacred places of Buddhism. A few of which includes the original Bodhi tree where Gautama Buddha got Nirvana.

Various factions of Buddhism and various Buddhist states of the world have set of temples at Bodh Gaya. The township of Bodh Gaya can be arrived at by getting to Patna and then taking the road or nightlong train. The pilgrim's journey to the holy sites of Bodh Gaya is definitely a revalation.

Helena is the state capital of Montana. It has a population of over 30,000 people. In Helena, there is an organization called The Helena Mineral Society which is a non-profit organization that caters to the public awareness of gems, minerals and precious stones. They also advocate continued camaraderie among its members and further education and investigation of precious stones found in the capital of Helena.

The Helena Mineral Society currently holds an exhibit festival at Helena which also features a mineral trade show and silent auctions for everyone to see. The Festival will feature suppliers, importers and manufacturers of gems and precious stones from other places. Aficionados and sellers are all gathered under one roof in this one of a kind exhibit. The festival is the perfect time to get to know different minerals, their compositions and beauty.

Since it is almost spring time, geologists and rock enthusiasts are once again itching to get out of their homes and explore the nature for some of these treasures. It is important to prepare as early as now the digging paraphernalia so one could have successful rock hunting in spring time. Chisels should be sharpened and brushes should be checked if its still complete. Shovels and carrying bags should be all ready and set as well as sunscreen, hat and some plastic or newspaper sheet for containing small pieces.

The Society seeks to provide a vast knowledge to the public about rocks and minerals that is why they hold field trips and hands-on classes where one could be exposed and taught on the basics of rock hunting. Some beginners on field trips consist of enthusiastic kids who only get to learn about precious stones and minerals from school lessons.

Big Help from Small Tips

By Ian Kleine

I've gathered a few small tips during a lot of my frequent art travels cross country. Some of them, I found to be quite effective and would shift a lot of attention to you, while others would hardly do a single thing at all. These tips concern a big chunk on keeping your customers, reinforcing your relationship with them, and strengthening your own market base as well. In this harsh world of business, you'll need all the help you can get. So try these tips out and see for yourself.

Sending a personalized note with your thanks is an amazing practice. Honestly. Writing a thank you note makes the whole thing reach a personal level that bevels respect for you and enforces your customer to keep good ties with you. Thank you notes also helps you get familiar with your clients, remembering their names, addresses and things like that. Even just a "Hey, how are you?" would evoke a sense of happiness within them. "Now here's a guy that cares enough to send me something."

Another hot tip: never leave your post. That means to not ever, EVER, leave your table unattended and/or without anybody manning the stations. Giving yourself to your business means giving a whole lot of your aspects into it, including time and constant attention. If a prospective client sees your empty table, that is instant money turning into stone. It will also do badly for your non-existent reputation (non-existent because he or she hasn't even seen your face and you already have a bad rep with the client). Whatever you do, you paid for that space. You better make good use for it.

Be either a friend, a customer yourself, or an agent, but don't sound like a salesman in front of the client. Everyone has pretty much a solid idea and a bad one at that, regarding what salesmen are capable of. Try erasing that I will sell you type of aura, most people have in them during craft fairs. Treat customers like a friend willing to buy some of your things. This way, they will be at ease and participate more in discussions you might have with them over your items.

The theme then is, bring your business to a personal approach with your clients. The things about craft festivals are, customer and producer meets and greets. They talk. They share ideas. They find things amusing and things disagreeable. But you have communication. And communication is one thing that reinforces both you and your customer's relationships. Don't be awkward about it. If a customer is genuinely interested in your product, then discuss and promote.

Common International Air Travel Rules

By Jonathan Wills

In the US there are many people who travel daily by air. Men, women, business people, couples, etc. A fair size percentage of these people are leaving the country to travel internationally.

As international travel continues to increase in popularity, it is likely that the numbers will continue to rise. In fact, there is even a good chance that you may make the decision to travel to another country. If so, it is advised that you famialrize yourself with the international air travel rules.

When it comes to international air travel rules, there are many travelers who automatically get confused. This is because not many people know that the rules for international air travel are different than the rules for domestic air travel.

In reality, they arent exactly the same, but they arent that much different either. Despite the similarities, it is still advised that you place a focus on international air travel, especially since you will be traveling internationally.

As mentioned previously, some air travel rules are similar between international travel and domestic. The airport screening process is one of these rules. In all airports, although they may not be an international airport, there are security checkpoints that passengers will need to pass through.

All your checked baggage has to go through this screening process. Nearly all airlines thoroughly inspect checked baggage looking for flammable, explosive or illegal items, which was not the case in the past.

Since a large number of international airports not only offer international flights, but domestic flights as well, intentional passengers are not always separated from domestic ones. Essentially, this means that the passenger screening procedures, as well as the screening for all luggage will be the same.

All accessories must be removed by Passengers which could set off the metal detectors. This includes their shoes which are also sent through the x-ray machine to ensure that there are no dangerous materials or explosives hidden in them.

There are a few differences between the domestic air travel and international air travel at the first check-in. You will need to approach the relevant airline counter to register yourself when you first arrive at the airport. Your checked luggage will be examined and processed for the trip at this check-in.

For domestic flights you only need to supply a picture ID. This is usually in the form of a government issued identification card or a drivers license will suffice. For international travel you will need to supply additional proof of identification.

Depending which airport you depart from and which airport you arrive at will determine which form of ID you are required to bring along. Sometimes a picture ID is not enough and you will need to produce a birth certificate, passport, visa, or national ID, or even a combination of these items.

You may want to bring all the documents with you but it is advisable to keep these documents safe at home unless it is absolutely necessary that you provide them.

The above are just a few of the international air travels rules and procedures that you may be required to follow. Professional assistance is advisable if you are unsure about a particular rule and this should come directly from an international airline or international airport.
