Building An Authoritative Travel Blog

Authoritative blogs seem all the rage at the moment but what exactly is an " Authoritative Travel Blog ?" Well my understanding of the matter is it is a blog that is not only very informative to the readers but that the information comes from authoritative type people in connection with what they are writing about.

Hopefully my articles below will give an insight on travel and travel related experiences from all over the world from many authoritative writers as they have been there and done that.

Articles will be and are published often and this means current travel experiences and up to date places to visit. If you have also visited these places or wish to comment then please do so remembering this blog is intended to family orientated visitors so please be respectful.

I have seen many fears raised through my article site and feel that any traveller today that, for one reason or another, decides against travel insurance then they are possibly being a little short sighted. We do not want our boats to sink but are happy to carry life rafts. travel insurance is a similar idea. We do not wish to ever claim on it but if things go wrong as they sometimes do it is a benifit to have the insurance.

Buy Here, Sell There

By Ian Kleine

Are you tired of thinking about selling something all day? Is there nothing new to sell much these days? Don't have the effort for innovation or you are simply just bored?

You should start to being a merchant then. This is a mercantile trade of buying things from people at a discounted price and then earning a profit by selling them to people of other locales. Just like how the merchants did it in the olden times.

This is especially good if you have a transport, an active directory of all fairs and festivals happening around the country or state (country would be better, of course, you'd have to consider the fare expenses too, especially with state-to-state traveling), a knack for customer relations and good mathematical ability. Like how much will you profit over your expenses, your cost? If you do this, will you gain more or lose some?

You would be traveling, A LOT. Of course, if you're really that good, and the products you bought really live up to their name, then have a go for it, much better if you realize you're good at this and then consider a shift in careers. That way, you can make a map of yearly activities for yourself.

Consider the wares you are going to sell too. Have a good stock and supply for upcoming events when you have established yourself. Earn a good reputation with your "suppliers" (that means the people you brought your good from) because they will be your "customers" once you have moved on to the next festival. Avoid perishables (especially food) unless you're sure you can sell it.

It would definitely work if your charm can sell ice to Eskimos. But you really don't have to be THAT good. Success is not an overnight thing. Try and try, improve and learn the ropes, the tricks of the trade. If you are forthright dedicated to this, you are sure to succeed.

Car Maintenance Basics For Everyone

By Scott Burnside

Car maintenance is not an option. Even if you know nothing about how a car works or have no mechanical aptitude whatsoever, there's a few simple steps you can take to keep your car running in top form. This simple maintenance will save you time and money, as well as making for a safer, better performing vehicle.

--A clean car is a happy car: The outside of your car isnt as important as whats under the hood, but it is still important. In addition to the aesthetic benefits of a clean car theres a number of practical matters it addresses. Keeping your windshield clean inside and out is crucial for safety. Keeping the rest of the car clean prevents rust and corrosion.. And when youre cleaning your car, dont forget.

--Clean the undercarriage of the car: This is especially true if you live anywhere it snows"all of the salt and other gunk your car gets underneath it will rust out your body faster than anything. I dont care how cold it is, you should give your car a good bath at least once a week during the winter, and make sure to get underneath the wheel wells and the undercarriage of your car.

--Rinse your engine: Keeping the engine clean helps your car run cooler, and washing away crusty oil, battery acid, etc, will help prevent damage to engine parts.

--Clean your air filter: Change your filter every time you change your oil filter. In between changes, give the filter a good spray with a compressed air hose and blow out the filter chamber as well. Filters are so cheap that you have no excuse to be running around with a dirty one.

--Check and change your oil: Check the dipstick level every time you stop for gas, and don't run your car without the appropriate amount of oil. An older vehicle may burn oil, but if you have a new car that is burning oil it needs to be checked out. Change your oil frequently"at least every 5,000 miles and better still, every 3,000 miles. Change your filter when you change the oil or youre going to be pumping clean oil through a dirty filter which defeats the purpose. Oil changes are a pretty easy job even for those without much of a mechanical background, and drive thru oil change businesses are ubiquitous in any decent sized market. Most of these places do a decent job and charge a reasonable fee. Many also take care of several other of the maintenance tasks on this list.

--Other fluids: Change your anti-freeze every year, and eyeball the coolant reservoir anytime youre under the hood to make sure that its full. Check the transmission, brake and power-steering fluids frequently, and top off when necessary.

--Check and rotate your tires: Check the air pressure of your tires at least once a week, and keep them filled to the manufacturer specified levels. If you have a real spare tire, and not one of those useless 'donut' tires check the pressure in that as well. Rotate your tires every few months to insure even wear. Some automotive chains will rotate tires they sold free of charge. In any case, if you don't want to do this yourself any decent garage can do it for a very nominal fee. Simply checking the air pressure in your tires and rotating them periodically prevents countless problems and saves you a ton of money. Tires are expensive, and nothing will wear them out faster than improper inflation or uneven wear--not to mention the fact that worn tires are dangerous to drive on.

Emergency tools and equipment: Despite your best efforts to the contrary, things will eventually go wrong. When in does, youll be glad that you planned ahead. These items should be in your trunk at all times: tire gauge, pliers (slip-joint and needle nose), adjustable wrench, flat head and Phillips screwdriver. Dont buy cheap tools"theyll break and the least opportune times. Invest in Craftsman tools or another premium brand, and youll be set for life. Youll also need a flashlight, and if you live somewhere it snows its also a good idea to have salt, sand, a small shovel, and a blanket just in case you get snowbound and have to sleep in your car. A cellphone charger is also a good thing to have, since a cellphone doesn't do much good if your batteries are dead. There are also 'emergency' cellphone chargers that don't require a power source.

--Auto club membership: Just a great investment that will pay for itself the first time you lock your keys in your car or need a tow. AAA is the best known, but there are many others. Most credit card and cellphone providers offer this type of service, and a growing number of car manufacturers including VW and Mini Cooper offer it free of charge for new car buyers. At minimum, they should offer free towing, trip continuation insurance, lockout service, free maps, and some other bells and whistles. Keep in mind, however, that all roadside assistance companies aren't created equal. Compare what they offer, and consider the type of driving you do--if you frequently travel through remote areas you're better off going with a bigger company due to their larger network of covered providers.

None of these tips require any significant mechanical competence or even more than a basic knowledge of how the car works. Still, they can help save time and money, extend the life of your vehicle and provide a safer driving experience.

Greece Travel : Tourism Information

By Sally Height

In this installment of our guide to holidays in Greece we look at basic tourist information...

Greece offers a wide range of experiences, landscapes and activities. It is famous for its natural beauty, historical sites and nightlife, and of course for its reliably sunny summers and the many beautiful beaches on its islands and coastline, which stretches along the Aegean, Ionian and Mediterranean Seas.

It attracts more than 15 million visitors a year, making it one of the top 20 tourist destinations in the world, 90% of which visit come from other European countries (although in recent years there have been growing numbers of tourists from other world regions).

The most popular destinations include the capital, Athens, and the islands, especially Crete, Rhodes and Corfu. Some areas are very tourist orientated, but people seeking a quieter experience can still find places free from mass tourism.

The great majority of travellers arrive in the summer months - April through October, with the season's peak being July and August. Outside this period, most of the Greek tourist infrastructure, particularly on the islands, slips into hibernation.

The majority of scheduled international flights go via Athens and Thessalonki. But in the tourism season, charter and low-budget flights flying from numerous European cities arrive daily at a range of popular island destinations and smaller mainland cities.

A valid passport is necessary to enter Greece. Citizens of some non-EU countries may also need to obtain a visa, but citizens of the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand can stay as long as 90 days without needing a visa.

It's considered a safe country to visit (in terms of occurrences of theft and violence against visitors) and no immunization vaccinations are required or advised prior to traveling there.

Art Involvement With Your Kids

By Mara Hernandez-Capili

Art had always been a big part of everybody's life. It expands critical and creative thinking. There are a lot of benefits art and craft can give. Craft can get kids working with their bare hands and think in the abstract on how they can make a certain project. Kids would learn how to put their thought into something concrete and express it through art.

Art is more stimulating than watching cartoons or even those teen-themed sitcoms. It is even better than playing video games. Arts and Crafts allow us to use our whole brainpower. Art helps kids express what they cannot express in words. Kids may develop their artistic side while getting involved in arts and crafts, while video games and electronic gadgets might just hide the true talent of a child.

Kids and arts go together easily; even a 1 year old kid can doodle if given a crayon and a paper. Real Artist are born and not made, but one can improve their skill in art. Art enhances the concept of concentration and dedication. There is never a bad art, it doesn't matter if a child cannot draw or anything, art is simply having fun, nothing beats the enjoyment art can give.

There are a lot of benefits a child can get by just engaging themselves into art, such as keeping the mind busy, as it helps them focus on a certain tasks. Also, an art promotes creative play. Art can give benefits even if they will not pursue an artistic career. By working with arts and crafts, children can improve their motor skills, which enhances their eye and hand coordination.

Art and craft festivals are one way of introducing art to kids, having them exposed to these kinds of events helps them learn. Art and craft is a combination of education and entertainment. Art and craft festivals can also strengthen family bonds. Here, families can pass the time together and at the same time have parents reinforce the link between their kids and arts.

50cc Scooters

By Owen Jones

50cc scooters have an engine size that classifies them as small motorcycles or mopeds at the limit between the vehicle category and moped classes. Regulations vary in many countries of the world, when it comes to the legal right to drive 50cc scooters with or without a driving license and common laws are seldom achieved. For instance, in some EU countries you can ride such motorcycles without a driving license. The exceptions are France and Italy, where you need a car driving license to operate vehicles up to 125cc. There is a fairly big level of legal ambiguity in the definition and classification of scooters and mopeds.

The restrictions and licensing fees are a lot less for 50cc scooters and they are not legally considered as motorcycles. This definition applies to vehicles above the 50 cc engine capacity. However, an intermediary definition or class has been created by some jurisdictions. Therefore, between 50 and 150cc, vehicles are referred to as motorized bikes. In other parts of the world, 50cc scooters and above, are described as motorcycles.

Hence, the terms of such a vehicle's classification vary from state to state and cannot be discussed as if they are interchangeable. Therefore, when you go to buy for a scooter or you are searching for information, you need to take these facts into consideration as well in order to understand everything properly.

Technically, 50cc scooters are among the smallest and best designed on the market. They are very popular because of their very low cost, their minimal fuel consumption and the possibility of them being used by teenagers and adults alike. They are both chic and sporty at the same time, so such a vehicle is seen as a trendy alternative to public transportation or inner city driving.

You can zip around with a scooter or moped, avoiding the traffic jams of heavy traffic. Even though they have a rather small engine capacity, 50cc scooters have four stroke engines with a high performance for various mobility and transportation purposes.

However, 50cc scooters share similar features with larger models, because the design lines are often kept similar by the various manufacturers. Therefore, there is usually an electric start and a kick start mode, the brakes and exhaust come in sports variants and they all have some form of storage space beneath the seat.

Before the purchase of such a small motorcycle, you ought to learn something about the certification for registration, the warranty, the fuel consumption and the technical limitations of the model. However, the same tips hold valid for larger designs too.

Guide To Greece : Must See Places

By Jim Avery

In this part of our guide to holidays in Greece we focus on the best locations to visit...

Greece is relatively small but it offers a wide range of places attractive to travelers. The islands are the leading tourism destinations, but the mainland is also worth visiting. Greece's five most popular tourist destinations are Athens, Thessaloniki, Corfu, Rhodes and Crete.

Its antiquity and influence as the country's capital and largest city make Athens a very rewarding destination. The city has many historical sites, as well as major museums and galleries. Most of these are clustered around the central city. Athens also has many sites of natural beauty - parks, hills and mountains - that provide an attractive and restful escape from this sprawling city's din and bustle.

The country's second largest city, Thessaloniki, lies in northeastern Greece. This city has a continuous 3000-year history and well preserved architecture, much of which is included in UNESCO's World Heritage list. Its old town has narrow cobbled streets and historic houses built in a variety of traditional styles. The city's long, attractive seafront promenade offers panoramic views of the bay. Thessaloniki also has a very active nightlife and a wide range of quality restaurants.

Lying off Greece's northwest coast, the island of Corfu has a mild climate, beautiful beaches and many historical sites, making it very popular with tourists. Compared to other Greek islands, Corfu is very green, having more than 2 million olive trees. Mount Pantokrator in the north of the island is more than 1000 meters high and has spectacular views of nearby islands.

Crete, Greece's largest island and the southernmost one in Europe, is bathed in sunlight for much of the year. It's mountain villages, long sandy beaches, rocky bays, quiet coves and a big selection of beach bars and nightclubs make it a popular travel and vacation destination, as do its abundance of wildlife, plants and flowers, many of which are unique to the island.

Rhodes, which has been inhabited since the Stone Age, has a landscape compromised mainly of hills and low mountains, and is considered to be one of the most beautiful Greek islands. The northern coast is renowned for its lively tourist resorts, whereas the south, quieter and simpler, offers an extensive medieval town and archaeological sites.

Finding Sacramento Airport Transportation With Ease

By Antonio Davinci

Your first concern after you land in an airport should be how you are going to leave. You won't always be flying to a location where you are going to have a friend who can pick you up. Perhaps you are visiting somewhere that you have never been before, like Sacramento. In this instance, finding Sacramento airport transportation is your most important task. There are many different forms available, though, so finding a ride shouldn't be any trouble.

Taxis are generally the most common form of airport transportation that you may choose to use. There are frequently a number of them waiting outside of an airport, ready to take any traveler where they need to go. The problem with taxis, however, is that there are usually only a limited amount available and fighting with the other passengers to get one can be a headache. On top of this, they are usually rather cramped and uncomfortable.

Some Sacramento airport transportation may be provided by the form of a lift. Local hotels will often feature a shuttle service designed to take their guests to and from the airport. This can often be a handy service, yet it only works for one of the people who is staying at that hotel. The service is also usually only provided as transportation with the airport, leaving you stranded at the hotel the rest of the time.

Many people may choose to rent a car when they are visiting a new city. This may be the right option for you if you enjoy figuring out directions and exploring a place for the first time. A car rental gives you the chance to travel at your own convenience because you will be in charge of the transportation. This ultimately leaves you responsible for keeping a time schedule and learning traffic patterns, however.

A limousine may be the right form of Sacramento airport transportation that you seek. One of these luxury automobiles can be used to get you anywhere that you need to go. Not only will you be able to comfortably travel in large groups, but you can enjoy all of the amenities that the limo offers. Getting to all of your destinations around Sacramento will be no problem when you are using a limousine service to do it.

Finding the best Sacramento airport transportation means that you need to figure out exactly what you are going to need during your time in the city. You will want to have the freedom to move on your own while still being comfortable. From a limousine service to a taxi, many different choices are available to make sure that you get everywhere you need to go!

Expert Answers To Travel Questions Number 1

By Chris Linch

Question 1:

I have been wanting to take a family holiday, but I am on a firm budget, what do you suggest we do to get away, but save cash?

Answer 1:

Well there are a number of things you can do. Try booking a hotel that has a kitchen in the room so that you can cook there, save money on dining out. You can also go to less exclusive destinations. Try a theme park like Six Flags or Branson Missouris Silver Dollar City as opposed to the more pricey Disney World. Travel by car, if possible. Honest, best answer, rough it and go camping. Take a camping road trip, you can stay in many cities for the price of a tent and a plot fee.

Question 2:

I have been thinking about booking a flight for my retreat, but the prices keep on dropping when is the best time to book?

Answer 2:

Normally the best time to book flights is by Memorial Day, but the good news in 2009 is that you can really still save a lot of funds if you book before the end of July. It appears that on or about August 1, we are going to start seeing increases in airfare as consumer confidence rises therefore raising fuel prices. Simple answer the sooner the better, prices have bottomed.

Question 3:

There are so many travel sites out there saying they have the best deal, but they all seem comparable, who is the best to book with?

Answer 3:

The one that offers the low price assurance. Thats right, it doesnt matter, you can book with any of them if they offer low price guarantees. Then if you do find a lower rate you can ask them to match it. A word of warning though, watch the fine print. Some only offer this for the first 24 hours. The best I have seen, and the one we offer at our site, will match the rate up until the cancellation deadline. These are the best sites to book with because you can be confident you will get the cheapest rate.

Question 4:

I booked a non refundable reservation, but my plans have changed, how do I cancel it?

Answer 4:

I hate to be the carrier of bad news, but most properties are very stringent on these when it comes to hotels, and airlines have no exceptions. If you are talking about a hotel the best you are going to be able to do is perhaps reschedule. Some hotels will let you move the dates, very few will reimburse. As for airlines, you are going to be out their change fee, but you get a credit for the amount of the flight minus the change fee for upcoming travel. If you want my advice, change your plans back.

Reminiscin' the movie: Transformers at the Nevada Truck Show

By Mara Hernandez-Capili

I am a huge fan of the movie Transformers. I am no huge fan of robots or transforming trucks but somehow the movie made me a fan of Sci-fi films. For those of you who haven't watched the film it is about a young high school boy named Sam Whitwicky who inherited one Transformer car (Bumblebee) and became an accomplice to the war of the robots. The movie contained various twists and turns that featured award winning Sci-fi effects.

Nevada has their own beat and taste of action. Nevada holds a Truck Show, an event where Monster trucks are the lead actors. Truck shows such as Nevada's made people remember the movie transformers. Truck shows are the really thing and it is where the real action is. Here, different trucks are presented. Antique Car show will also be held along side with this annual truck show. The event will be categorized according to different aspects, such as the oldest, the most fashionable and of course the fastest. Cars will be awarded accordingly. Truck enthusiast surely won't miss this kind of event.

Going back to the Transformers movie, Sam and his girlfriend got tangled up on the war of the machines that has somehow gotten over our planet. In the movie, newcomer Megan Fox is seen as a hot and sexy chick that had guys drooling over. The movie actually garnered her several other major roles in upcoming movies as it became the stepping stone to her stardom.

Transformers aren't just about trucks, sci-fi and robots. It is also about camaraderie and loyalty to friends. It is about giving up one's life for a friend and for the greater good cause of everyone. The movie teaches us a lot of lessons in life, love and in faith. It also talks about how technology can actually improve and damage the world when used wrongly.

Come with your comrades to the best and most anticipated Truck Show!
