Building An Authoritative Travel Blog

Authoritative blogs seem all the rage at the moment but what exactly is an " Authoritative Travel Blog ?" Well my understanding of the matter is it is a blog that is not only very informative to the readers but that the information comes from authoritative type people in connection with what they are writing about.

Hopefully my articles below will give an insight on travel and travel related experiences from all over the world from many authoritative writers as they have been there and done that.

Articles will be and are published often and this means current travel experiences and up to date places to visit. If you have also visited these places or wish to comment then please do so remembering this blog is intended to family orientated visitors so please be respectful.

I have seen many fears raised through my article site and feel that any traveller today that, for one reason or another, decides against travel insurance then they are possibly being a little short sighted. We do not want our boats to sink but are happy to carry life rafts. travel insurance is a similar idea. We do not wish to ever claim on it but if things go wrong as they sometimes do it is a benifit to have the insurance.

The Unique Charm of Bangkok

By Chris Linch

One of the reasons Bangkok is such a great city to visit is that the unique culture of Thailand is so evident in every aspect. Thailand has never been conquered, or occupied, and has avoided undue outside influences. That is not to say that Bangkok does not have all the modern conveniences and services one would expect from a large city, it does. It somehow manages to offer modern sophistication and still retain the gentle charm and traditional cultural heart of ancient Thailand.

Bangkok offers a rich variety of experiences. There are 400 Buddhist temples alone. The city boasts world-class shopping, dining and theatre. A particularly charming way to explore the city is by canal boat on the Chao Phraya River. A fascinating glimpse into traditional life is on view along the canalsa monk begging alms, a farmer delivering his vegetables by boat, a child on his way to school.

For a truly unique experience, time your visit to coincide with one of the many festivals Bangkok celebrates:

1)Bangkok Songkran: The Thai New Year is celebrated with parades, music troupes and boat racing.

2)Chinese New Year Festival celebrates the best in Chinese culture. Enjoy Chinese Lion and Dragon dances, special recipes, traditional costumes, and music.

3) Loi Krathong: One of the most beautiful of the festivals, this "festival of the lights" is observed citywide and nationally. In the evening, people gather at the waterside to float krathong, lotus-shaped vessels beautifully decorated with flowers and lit candles, as a thanksgiving and worship to the Goddess of Water. Imagine how lovely this must be! There are also fun fairs, concerts, beauty contests and other entertainment.

If you have time, take a Thai cooking class; or visit the floating market on the River Kwai. Shop the legendary malls MBK or Siam Paragon, or haggle with the merchants at an open air artisan market. You can enjoy traditional Thai Dancing, or a kickboxing demonstration, or visit a royal palace. Make sure to indulge in a spa treatment for which Thailand is famous.

With so many delights waiting, a trip to Bangkok is sure to charm everyone.
