Building An Authoritative Travel Blog

Authoritative blogs seem all the rage at the moment but what exactly is an " Authoritative Travel Blog ?" Well my understanding of the matter is it is a blog that is not only very informative to the readers but that the information comes from authoritative type people in connection with what they are writing about.

Hopefully my articles below will give an insight on travel and travel related experiences from all over the world from many authoritative writers as they have been there and done that.

Articles will be and are published often and this means current travel experiences and up to date places to visit. If you have also visited these places or wish to comment then please do so remembering this blog is intended to family orientated visitors so please be respectful.

I have seen many fears raised through my article site and feel that any traveller today that, for one reason or another, decides against travel insurance then they are possibly being a little short sighted. We do not want our boats to sink but are happy to carry life rafts. travel insurance is a similar idea. We do not wish to ever claim on it but if things go wrong as they sometimes do it is a benifit to have the insurance.

Solana Beach: Land Of Sun, Sand and Surf

By Heather Hunnefeld

Located on the coast of the Pacific Ocean, Solana Beach is the quintessential SoCal beach town. About 20 miles north of downtown San Diego, Solana Beach is bordered by a large country club on the east, the ocean on the west, an ecological reserve on the north and the fashionable community of Del Mar (with famous horse track) on the south.

Temperatures average from 60 - 64 sunny degrees in the winter and 76 - 78 balmy but refreshing degrees in the summer. The near perfect weather and 2 miles of coastline result in a kind of paradise - as a result, home prices in Solana Beach average more than $1.5 million.

The city is a favorite destination for visitors who enjoy eclectic shops, great dining, golfing, nightlife, bicycling, beach sports and hiking. Every evening finds visitors and locals gathering at Fletcher Cove to enjoy the sunset.

The popular Cedros District has the quaintness and mystery of an old European side-street featuring more than eighty shops from trendy to antique, chic to bohemian. A litte exploring will find authentic furniture from the far east, antiques from Africa, hand-woven tapestries from South America, tony spas, adventure and travel gear, custom hand-made jewelry, health-food restaurants, design studios and one-of-a-kind salons. all combining to make Cedros one of San Diego's most interesting shopping and business areas.

Perhaps the most well-known establishment in Cedros is the Belly Up Tavern. If you enjoy music, be sure to check out the daily line-up of diverse musical talent. The Belly Up is unique and well-known throughout all of California, and has been elected the Best Live Music Venue in San Diego nearly annually by local newspapers and magazines.

Coastal Southern California has an excellent rail transit system. Both the Amtrak and the local commuter train, the Coaster, stop at the Solana Beach station at 105 N. Cedros Ave., providing easy access to San Diego and Los Angeles.

Every July the local triathlon club hosts a "beach party triathlon" with a quarter mile ocean swim, nine mile bike ride and three mile run. Thousands of people run, ride, swim, watch, participate and have fun with their family and friends.

Solana Beach made national news in 2003 when it became the first city in the Continental United States to enact a smoking ban on public beaches. Since then, many other coastal California communities have followed in banning smoking on their beaches.

The coastal area of Solana Beach along historic Highway U.S. 101 was mostly developed in the 1950s and 1960s, consisting of a diverse mix of offices, businesses, shops, restaurants, hotels, motels, resorts and apartments.

The inland portion of Solana Beach was developed over the past 25 years and boasts a large country club surrounded by exclusive homes. The headquarters of the Jenny Craig Corporation is located in Solana Beach with more than 190 employees.

There are lots of beach community accommodations options in the area including Cardiff By The Sea Inn and Solana Beach Bed and Breakfasts.
