Building An Authoritative Travel Blog

Authoritative blogs seem all the rage at the moment but what exactly is an " Authoritative Travel Blog ?" Well my understanding of the matter is it is a blog that is not only very informative to the readers but that the information comes from authoritative type people in connection with what they are writing about.

Hopefully my articles below will give an insight on travel and travel related experiences from all over the world from many authoritative writers as they have been there and done that.

Articles will be and are published often and this means current travel experiences and up to date places to visit. If you have also visited these places or wish to comment then please do so remembering this blog is intended to family orientated visitors so please be respectful.

I have seen many fears raised through my article site and feel that any traveller today that, for one reason or another, decides against travel insurance then they are possibly being a little short sighted. We do not want our boats to sink but are happy to carry life rafts. travel insurance is a similar idea. We do not wish to ever claim on it but if things go wrong as they sometimes do it is a benifit to have the insurance.

Leather Coats and their Grades

By Ethan O. Tanner

When you are shopping for a new leather coat, it helps if you are aware of the grades of leather the coats are made from and what the advantages and disadvantages are for each type. This extra knowledge can help you select the best coat for you at the ideal price.

All leather goods, including coats, are made from one of 4 grades of leather. These grades are full grain, top grain, split grain, and bonded. The highest quality and generally highest priced grade of leather is top grain. The bottom quality and normally the lowest priced leather is bonded grade. We will take a look at each of these grades below starting with the highest quality and working downward.

Full grain leather is the pick for the highest quality leather goods. Full grain leather is made from the outer layers of the hide and it is not processed or sanded except to remove hairs. This maintains the beauty of the natural leather and its markings. Overall, full grain leather is the most in demand because of its attractive appearance along with its durability and strength. Full grain leather is reserved for the highest quality leather goods so alas a full grain leather coat will be the most costly choice. If you can afford it, or if you get lucky and find a full grain leather coat on sale, then you will have a beautiful premium coat you are sure to love wearing.

Top grain leather is a strong leather that can be fashioned into exotic imitations. Top grain leather is less expensive than full grain and is made from the outer layer of hide. It is processed and sanded to cover imperfections. This outer layer of the hide is strong so top grain leather is very durable even if the look is not as luxurious a full grain leather. Because it is processed, the leather may be fashioned during this process to imitate exotic skin like ostrich skin or alligator. If you are seeking a leather coat made from such an exotic skin, you can save money by purchasing an imitation made from top grain leather.

When leather goods carry the label, 'genuine leather', it is usually an indication that the product is made by split grain leather. This leather comes from the inner layer of hide and is not as strong as top grain leather but it is stronger than bonded leather.

Bonded leather is the least expensive leather on the market so if you want to save money on your leather coat, this might be the choice for you. It is not the best in terms of durability however. Although the coat appears to be made from a single piece of leather, bonded leather is actually comprised of leather scraps that have been bonded together. Therefore it is the weakest leather but has the advantage of being the least expensive also.
